Jameela Jamil

Jameela is tweeting about the NSPCC dropping Munroe Bergdorf. She's a celeb who's gone all out about "body positivity" but is apparently unable to see the irony in telling kids they might be born in the wrong body.

She's also a self-proclaimed "feminist-in-progress", yet she calls women who object to male bodies having unrestricted access to female safe spaces "a bunch of transphobic cis women".

What a feminist you are, Jameela! Way to support your sisters, who, you know, actually have to deal with men invading their spaces, while you swan around above it all.

I'm sad about Jameela. I used to follow her but she has totally drunk the kool Aid. It's such a shame because she really is a massive advocate for body positivity

I have been tweeting about this since it popped up yesterday, I do wish she would respond to those of us who disagree with her, she has done in the past so I thought it was worth the effort.

I see Munroe is trying to lay this at the door of Janice Turner!

I unfollowed this woman a few weeks ago when I realised what a nonsensical hypocrite she is.

She likes to use her 'body positivity' sm platforms to thrust her own political agenda down her followers necks. If you didn't vote the same as her or don't have the same political views then your self esteem and body issues can fuck off.

Really gone off her.

Jameela is just so painfully woke I’m amazed she can get out of bed in the morning, such is the heavy burden of being a privileged cishet woman.

HermioneWeasley · 09/06/2019 18:37

She’s ridiculously woke - so open minded her brain has fallen out.

And I don’t take leggy models who advocate for “body positivity” too seriously myself.

I can't fathom calling yourself a feminist and then screeching at women to STFU for daring to raise safety concerns.

I believe Jameela got dogpiled by TRAs a while ago for talking about women's biology being the source of our oppression, and has since 'educated herself' and 'learned to do better'.

Yeah I find her problematic as well, I appreciate what she’s trying to do, I really do, but when the message gets lost on the bid to take gold in the Woke Olympics I find myself sighing internally and clicking “unfollow”.

Sorry, I have literally no idea who any of these people are. I hope it all works out though.

It's all good talking about body positivity when you're 6ft and a size 4 🙄

Is it Childline and/or the NSPCC who has dropped MB?

ComeTheFuck0nBridget · 09/06/2019 19:21

I was sure it wasn't too long ago, not long before her interview with Sam Smith when she seemed to be on the other side of the argument? What's caused her change of opinion?

handbaghoarderr · 09/06/2019 19:45

I don't think I know who she is, but she sounds very tiring.

Has monroe been dropped?

MrsScamander · 09/06/2019 19:48

I followed her as well. Really respected her stance on body confidence and thought she was a great role model.

Unfollowed her as well, I am not cis. Women don't have penises. It's not transphobic to protest the employment of a misogynist, lesbophobic racist at a children's charity.

Exactly what you said @MrsScamander

Her brand of feminism seems to consist mainly of attacking other models and vacuous celebrities on twitter. She’s not exactly blazing a trail. So this doesn’t surprise me.

Wokeness is a dangerous drug. It seems to make intelligence vanish.
A quick Google of MB should have raise concerns about them doing this role.
There are surely dozens of better role models? Trans, lesbian and gay. Young lesbians in particular need someone on their side.

Outofinspiration · 09/06/2019 20:37

She is one of these 'I'm so open minded my brains have fallen out' types.

I'm bloody sick of her. She searches for things to moan about to get her name in the papers. Such an attention seeker moaner!

So true @Aspley

Still a colossal self harm rate amongst lesbian teens and early twenties, shocking

Can we stop with all the "why is she a role model, she's so skinny🙄" comments please. She's been very vocal about how she used to have an eating disorder and that's why she started trying to raise awareness in the first place. It's absolutely fine to disagree with her as I do myself but please stop with the unnecessary spiteful comments.

I went off her when she complimented Eliza Doolittle on her show once, saying her dress looked like a nightie ( or something similar - it was a long time ago) . Just seemed an incredibly bitchy thing to say.

While we all say dumb shit when we're young, I personally have never forgiven her for this comment she made a few years ago:

Jamil tweeted: ‘Catherine Zeta-Jones has just been admitted to rehab for bipolar disorder. I GUARANTEE it’s just the menopause! Makes 40+ crazy'.

I am very cynical about her.
