Are you Gender Diverse - then take part in the Gendered Intelligence survey

Gendered intelligence have a survey to help them plan the next five years. They've asked that the survey be shared and broadcast widely

You might be gender diverse, trans, gender free, an ally or 'Other' and it is really asking only one question - how can GI help to transform the lives of trans people, including young people and children?

Any thoughts on what Gendered Intelligence should look like in 5 years time?

Brava, barelove But I guess we'll all be accused of "Mumsnet transphobia." All those women who've had <yeuch> babies how dare they think they know anything? Get back to the kitchen!

barelove Fri 12-Apr-19 12:33:06

...So my whole answer is likely to be triggering. I hope the person processing the data will be OK. grin

Brilliant responses. They won't like mine either. I suggested they change their name to Sex intelligence and support people to be free to express themselves in whatever way they like with regards to dress, interests, jobs, names etc while acknowledging their chromosomes which will dictate what health care and services they'll need during their lives. I suggested that the best way to support trans people (and everyone else) is to do away with gender stereotyping completely.

@CuriousaboutSamphire grin wink

BeansandRice Fri 12-Apr-19 12:04:50

Oh, and that they might try to listen to & learn from the 51% of the population more likely to be murdered by intimate partners/exes/sons/fathers, and paid 15% less, and more likely to be discriminated against for our biological role in reproduction.

So my whole answer is likely to be triggering. I hope the person processing the data will be OK.

I doubt they'll like my responses: I advised that they use their intelligence to see that the illegal & damaging discrimination & violence against trans people is not perpetrated by women and feminists, but by homophobic & misogynist men, and that in their hostility to women & our legal rights, and that they have squandered enormous amounts of goodwill, especially from feminists, who are often the first to understand the personal difficulties & structural effects of oppression.

I also answered 'Other" as Genderfree; but that my sex is female.

Done. It was very therapeutic to be given a chance to articulate clearly why gender stereotyping is such a load of damaging b*llocks. It took less than 5 minutes and I highly recommend it as a quick stress buster!

I think religion plays a huge role in legitimising, promoting and validating homophobic attitudes.

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole Thu 11-Apr-19 18:21:05

Not really. They are very religious though, I know thats not automatically homophobic but..it tends to be more often. Mind, he never said his parents had any issue, but hes not a close close friend so maybe he wouldn't. His coming out as gay was quite uneventful, he was pissed off not more fuss was made apparently, where other gay friends said they would much prefer their parents to be just like 'oh, ok'. Hes still quite young compared to me, so expecting he will grow out of this when its not trendy anymore. Hes changed nothing. But he seems to be 'sensible' rather than screaming at people about pronouns and such so...meh.

HorsewithnoGender Thu 11-Apr-19 16:33:57

They were. They now say they are pansexual. But only ever seem to go with males still.

It sounds to me as tho' your mate who is obviously gay will self describe himself as anything but gay.

Next question: do you know your mates parents?

Are either of them massive homophobes by any chance?

IsadoraQuagmire Thu 11-Apr-19 13:43:48

Hahaha I told them exactly what I thought!

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole Thu 11-Apr-19 13:19:39

Just out of curiosity is your mate gay?

They were. They now say they are pansexual. But only ever seem to go with males still.

CuriousaboutSamphire Thu 11-Apr-19 06:56:24

And once you have done it it literally invites you to fill it in again. And I am not one to refuse a polite invitation.... smile

heresyisthenewblack Thu 11-Apr-19 02:18:08

Interesting! May take a look. I am, after all, whatever gender identity it is that doesn't have a gender identity! (So it makes me trans?)

WorkingItOutAsIGo Wed 10-Apr-19 20:39:54

The point is there is no real data collection about who is filling in the survey so I could have filled it in as a trans woman and they would not have known. And once you have done it it literally invites you to fill it in again. Seriously poorly designed.

BackOnceAgainWithABurnerEmail Wed 10-Apr-19 19:57:09

I think NB only reject their own gender.

Ereshkigal Wed 10-Apr-19 19:27:26

How would it not? Can't see how that's harder than being non binary and straight.

Surely you would generally have to be pansexual by default as you don't believe you personally have a sex or binary "gender" and you wouldn't reject all non binaries as a category? That would be a bit transphobic!

It would be quite funny if they did though grin"it's not you, it's the blue hair and extreme navel gazing. Yes I know I have it too."

CuriousaboutSamphire Wed 10-Apr-19 18:53:40

Not sure they'll like this Genderfree response either!

WorkingItOutAsIGo Wed 10-Apr-19 16:17:12

That survey is worth less than the pixels it is displayed on! There is no way they can use it for any real purpose.

Carriemac Wed 10-Apr-19 16:09:17

This is a great chance to give them some constructive feedback!

This morning I was reading the toolkits and checklists that Gendered Intelligence provided for schools in my local authority area.

It might be a good idea for GI to spend the next five years recalling the advice and republishing accurate information about the law and practice.

I'm not sure that schools will feel able to accept the revisions, updates and corrections from a GI source, once the scandal of affirming trans identities in children plays out.

polarpig Wed 10-Apr-19 15:03:55

not sure they will like my answers either.

RiddleyW Wed 10-Apr-19 14:46:34

How does that work?

How would it not? Can't see how that's harder than being non binary and straight.

WeRiseUp Wed 10-Apr-19 14:44:25

I believe you can be both non binary and gay

How does that work?

MsMarvellous Wed 10-Apr-19 14:36:14

Well I responded but I doubt they'll like my answers

HorsewithnoLycra Wed 10-Apr-19 13:23:36

My mate shared this on facebook this morning, they class themselves as 'non-binary'..

Just out of curiosity is your mate gay?

(I believe you can be both non binary and gay)
