The ‘Genderbread Person’

I’ve just seen this poster at my local Children’s Centre. I’m not wrong in thinking it’s basically just bollocks, am I? Please tell me most people don’t actually believe this garbage! I’ve read the ‘lesson plan’ and according to that I’m an androgynous, genderqueer straight woman - I’m not, I’m just me who happens to be a woman who doesn’t subscribe to this externally imposed gender ID nonsense 😤

I find all this so worrying and feel very uneasy about what my child will be taught about gender at school. How do you argue against it without being made to feel like a bigot? I know many people, possibly a majority, feel the same but debates always seem to get shouted down by the other side (not on here thankfully - I’ve been lurking for a while and love these pages).

Ohhhh, this nonsense is straight off Tumblr. I thought only fifteen year olds believed in it. I’ve never understood why they separate sexual and romantic attraction? Like it’s possible to be sexually attracted to both sexes, but you only ever have romantic feelings for one confused Is that really a thing?

SuperLoudPoppingAction Mon 08-Oct-18 12:14:01 Have you seen this?

CaptainKirkssparetupee Mon 08-Oct-18 12:15:11

It's rubbish but it's damaging agenda filled rubbish that is working.

Gileswithachainsaw Mon 08-Oct-18 12:16:47

Course it's bollocks. You are born a boy or a girl. The rest is personality and we should just let them get on with it.

ArfArfBarf Mon 08-Oct-18 12:17:40

I’d ask them to explain what a “womanly” brain means if it’s not based on biological sex and see them squirm trying to avoid sexist stereotypes. I can’t believe this sexism is considered progressive.

CaptainKirkssparetupee Mon 08-Oct-18 12:19:19

I can’t believe this sexism is considered progressive.

It's not considered progressive it's designed to re-enforce trans-gender idealoloy, which doesn't work without gender stereotypes.

Keeptrudging Mon 08-Oct-18 12:20:23

I thought a metrosexual was a heterosexual man who took great pride in his appearance, used skincare, styled his hair etc? confused

pancaketosser Mon 08-Oct-18 12:25:48

Is the sexual/romantic attraction thing so homophobic men can fuck other men whilst still calling themselves straight?

SmallButFierce Mon 08-Oct-18 12:30:35

Unfortunately some people do seem to think this is progressive. I’m finding it totally bizarre as I agree it’s all incredibly regressive. I was a child of the 80s and I really don’t remember gender being so rigidly enforced back then.

That's becuase it wasn't.

hellandhairnets Mon 08-Oct-18 12:35:02

I have now been told (somewhat screamingly) on several occasions that I am a scientific luddite for not believing in lady brain and that this is all the proof needed that I have been inducted into a religious cult.

I think by cult, they mean the old woman-style class-based analysis feminism that I have been forcibly yanked back to by all this bollocks.

I have also been informed that my sincerely-held belief that woman simply means adult human female, of the reproductive sex class, and that I see the word "gender" as relating to society's set of rules about what women and men are meant to be like, is "shocking" "unbelievable" and "hateful".

The whole thing is completely absurd. We have a generation of children that are being taught a faith-based system that cannot be questioned. They are being taught that this is "new science".

As far as I'm concerned, we may as well be teaching them creationism. Or Scientology, in fact.

SlowlyShrinking Mon 08-Oct-18 12:42:45

This kind of thing is not appropriate anywhere, because it’s bullshit, but especially not for children. Children don’t need to be thinking about sexual attraction. Surely this is lower down on the same scale as showing children porn??

ALittleBitofVitriol Mon 08-Oct-18 12:43:08

Wow. They've literally coloured the brain pink and blue.
Yes it's regressive and sexist. Gosh these navel gazing snowflakes want a label for their every thought. No. One. Gives. A. Shit.

So I went looking for who made this version so I could find their definition of 'gender' and 'identity.'
I immediately regret that decision. Too much woke garbage just before bed...

ChilliJamandAvocado Mon 08-Oct-18 12:50:56

It's bollocks because it's contradictory even within its own terms. On the one hand it recognises the biological sexes as male & female.

Then in the romantically/sexually attracted to sections, it conflates biological sex and gender identity within the same category. Surely that's transphobic to state that female bodies are inextricably linked to femininity? Are bodies gendered or are they distinct... seems the transactivists want it both ways at the same time, which defies logic. They need the reality of female bodies to exist to cast their image of femininity onto, yet they seek to ontologically erase the very thing they aspire to. It's impossibly circular. confused

terryleather Mon 08-Oct-18 12:52:10

That Genderbread Person bs has been around for quite a while.

It really is an absolute outrage that what amounts to a metaphysical religious agenda is being presented as fact when it has no basis in such, and it is absolutely terrifying that so many people who would rightly have huge problems with a religious agenda being pushed onto everyone cannot see the parallels.

Rebecca Riley-Cooper does a great take down of gender and discusses The Genderbread Person

I know, it's maddening.

How do you know what a woman is and that you are one despite your male sexed body if woman is impossible to define and/or is anyone who says they are one...?

Needs to be filed with flat earthism, creationism, scientology, the moonies etc. as bat shit crazy loonyism.

HerFemaleWoman Mon 08-Oct-18 13:15:43

Womenness, meanness

See even my phone corrects manness to meanness, it can’t even find a replacement for womeness and it can fuck off with the -

Yes It’s bollocks

SuperLoudPoppingAction Mon 08-Oct-18 13:23:50

Stuff from '70s and '80s when gender was perceived as a problem to be challenged - linked to sex but only due to rigidly enforced roles rather than ladybrains and slugs and snails.

SmallButFierce Mon 08-Oct-18 13:24:48

Dear God, I’ve just looked at that unicorn thing. Same bollocks as the genderbread monstrosity but with the addition of ‘other’ as a category additional to male/female. I’m totally baffled 🤷🏻‍♀️

No no no no no no no no! Hell fucking no

My DS knows only boys/men have willies

(we childish I know but I find shouting up the stairs don’t forget to wash your willy, balls n bum, a lot easier than saying penis, testicles and rear bottom)

DS although likes to roam naked he knows not everybody wants to see his bum Aswell as under pants rule. He knows about his DD and me equaling having respect for privacy, that girls are boys are different sex’s you can love whoever you want, dress however etc but boys and girls are different sex’s with different body parts you can’t just ‘feel’ your gender.

Fuck if that makes me transphobic fucking sue me, I had enough of this ‘feeling’ gender shit, I’m thinking of my own kids mental health, I tried explain the stonewall shit, DS was confused and frightened.

Thanks but anything other than thetransgender trend material can Fuckoff the other side of fucktown.

HerFemaleWoman has enough today!

HerFemaleWoman Mon 08-Oct-18 13:42:39
