IMPORTANT NOTICE - It is with regret that we have to announce that our meeting in Leeds cannot go ahead due to late and unreasonable cancellation. We will be emailing attendees shortly with more information. We condemn this act of silencing women. More to follow.

Very sorry to hear this. Please can you tell us the venue as I occasionally travel to Leeds and would hate to unknowingly give them my custom.

This is Leeds City Council, you will be imprisoned if you don't give them your custom, if you live in Leeds. No choice.

Made aware by whom? Obviously didn't bother to check WPUK's website

The council cancelled it? That really really is outrageous.

This needs to make the news

Do you think that they did this on purpose? Did they take the booking with the idea of cancelling it at the last minute? So it would be too late to get anything else.
Leeds does not have a good reputation.

That is beyond shocking-why on earth can't women get together to discuss law policy that affects them negatively? On the plus side there must be some press mileage in this-it proves women are being silenced.

We're meeting up in Leeds anyway.

the views...are not in line with Leeds City Council's values on gender and equality

Anyone know if LCC is one of the "gender" equality policy councils who don't talk about sex?

This isn't surprising at all. I've been expecting Leeds to go badly out of all the places these meetings have been held.

Leeds - Mermaids

Leeds - West Yorkshire Police

Join the dots.

Leeds Council's 'values on gender and equality' are in clear conflict with the Equality Act. Bunch of vile-os. Happy to support a quick challenge to this nonsense.

Appalling

It's despicable. Utterly cowardly.

The irony that the council celebrates that it's been 100 yrs since women were treated like shit for organising, silenced, pelted, force fed, beaten, berated, humiliated and labelled, that this council is basically abusing us again.

I'm so angry about this civil liberty being stripped. We need legal action now.

This looks very sinister & calculated. I think they planned to cancel all along & did so at the last minute in order to try to prevent the meeting going ahead.

MsMcWoodle · 28/09/2018 17:15

So glad the meeting is going ahead!

Get your soapboxes out Leeds lassies. The weathers good. Do it on the steps of the town hall.
