City of London Corporation consultation is out (this covers Hampstead Ponds)

And it's awful

No mention of sex, no mention of impact on any stakeholders, all leading questions, and horrible clear intention to filter.

This will affect the wonderful space at Hampstead Ponds so I urge you all to complete it. I will be speaking to the Corporation about its clear bias and lack of adherence to guidelines.

Do we have to live in London to fill it in?

Report
SwearyG · 26/07/2018 10:28

No you can fill it in as a user of the services or as someone who doesn't live/work/use services but then you have to give a reason as to why you're interested...

I'm sure R0wantrees will be long shortly with detailed informations but one reason for the nature of the questionnaire may be as a result of the involvement of a City of London official mentioned on this thread by R0wantrees:

The very chap whose name is on it - I cannot see how he can be unbiased and fair in his role as chair, particularly given the nature of the questions. It is not good.

I want to respond but also need help with formulating the responses. It's even worse than the Scottish one. Blah.

Abuse of public consultations to steamroller unpopular things through makes my blood boil, having worked on one.

I’ve filled it in but now want to send it to Dh. The link just keeps sending me back to my completed questionnaire though. How do I send him a link he can fill in? Thanks

Send him a link to the thread and he can use Sweary's link in the OP.

Thank you. Just filled it in and gave lots of comments on the conflation of gender with “sex”. Made all the points re same sex spaces and issues with self-ID

That Lord is a nasty misogynistic piece of work. He is clearly not impartial and should not be running this consultation.

He's getting a lot of stick in the replies to that tweet. What a silly man.

And no, you're not a fucking feminist, bro. People may have told you it's an identity you can put on while actively undermining women's rights. They are wrong.

If you want to complain about the lack of independence in having EL leading on this for the Corporation and the inherent bias in the questionnaire
[[http://democracy.cityoflondon.gov.uk/mgUserInfo.aspx?UID=401 this man]] is responsible for promoting the values of the Corporation, and discipline & integrity in Councillors.

Funny how it’s all men of a certain age like that guy from Dundee and they get in power
They seem to get a obsession bout trans gender things

Then the women who are the allies see:like women a lot younger

Completed, and I managed not to say 'Don't be bloody ridiculous' more than once.

How is it possible to fill in the questionnaire, except by repeating 'I do not believe that gender is assigned at birth, I believe that the sex of babies is observed at birth' in answer to everything?

I filled it in, being in London every now and then for business, but I only got to answer 21 of the 28 questions before getting to the end. Are there extra questions for a certain group?

Done. Mentioned women, other vulnerable groups, children and SAFEGUARDING a lot. Sheesh. You'd think they'd have someone with the knowledge of how to do a basic risk assessment and see for themselves where the issues are with what they're suggesting.

Filled it out with a statement about sex vs gender and safeguarding/religious exclusion/biased questions at every opportunity

Absolutely disgracefully written. How can they get away with such bilge?

Cripes just read up about Edward Lord and his partner Dr Meg-john Barker. They are very clearly not a heterosexual man in a relationship with a heterosexual woman. They are both non-binary and so much more interesting and full of virtue.

And there is no way they should be in charge of this consultation as they cannot possibly be independent. God I wish I was a lawyer and could make a proper complaint about this.

Dunno - that's pretty much what I did write!

I mentioned sex, religion and culture as protected characteristics, and the third space solution.

Report
MorbidMuch · 26/07/2018 12:16

Done with many comments outlining the difference between sex and gender, as well as why it is important to preserve single sex spaces.

Now I'm just really cross that something so obviously leading is allowed as a 'consultation' document.

Wow, that may be the smuggest tweet I've ever seen, and it's not like there isn't plenty of competition!
