Who We Are

Get the L Out is a group of lesbian and feminist individuals and organisations, opposing the increasingly anti-lesbian and misogynistic LGBT movement and the erasure of lesbians

Why We Protest

We believe that lesbian rights are under attack by the trans movement and we encourage lesbians everywhere to leave the LGBT and form their own independent movement, as well as to be vocal and take action against the proposed changes to the GRA.

Get the L Out believes trans politics (with uncritical support from the LGBT movement) does the following:

Promotes the social transition of lesbians, encouraging them to present as straight men thus favouring the pretence of heterosexuality over lesbianism – this is nothing more than a form of conversion therapy.
Promotes the medical transition of lesbians and pushes harmful drugs (untested hormone blockers, Lupron etc.) as well as unnecessary medical practices on perfectly healthy bodies – these are a form of misogynist medical abuse against lesbians.
Promotes the rights of heterosexual males who “identify” as women and lesbians (despite most of them still retaining their male genitals) over the rights of lesbians to choose their sexual partners. This new ‘queer’ LGBT politics thus coerces lesbians to accept the penis as a female organ and promotes heterosexual intercourse between male and female as a form of lesbian sex. This is simply a new facet to rape culture and compulsory heterosexuality." (continues)

It's a sad state of affairs when 10 brave lesbians are chased away and demonised by their supposed homosexual/ bi ++ umbrella group just for saying they are both female and homosexual.

It's a brave decision to break away but it seems necessary as an onlooker, I hope you are joined by all lesbians as I fear for those remaining.

Yep but the independent is better as it actually includes the leaflet so readers can judge for themselves. I have no doubt Owen Jones will be writing his misogynistic comment and analysis article on the issue as we speak.

Oh yes. Please. Let's apologise for not being pro-trans enough. Again. At the expense of women's rights. Again.

I would like there to be a separate trans movement, taking itself off the LGB list. It can be then divided into all the trans categories of old. Because I simply do not believe for one minute that someone who had a gender change operation 30 years ago has the same issues as a 20 year old male (formerly known as) transvestite, who I don't believe has the same issues as a 12 year old girl with body dysphoria. Each one of those people (and more in the trans umbrella) deserve their rights respected. Their trans rights. And all the old categories that are now supposedly not politically correct (like the one I used above as couldn't find another way to say it, not intending on being offensive) could be renamed to less offensive, but distinguishing terms.

It's like instead of LGB it was just "homosexual". A) it's not entirely accurate and b) the three groups have clear distinctions and both separate and converging issues. We know that because each has a separate name.

Last night I began reading Twitter reactions a bit more, I hadn't been able to keep up earlier. I was a bit taken aback at the vitriol, which was very naive of me. I must confess I began to feel a bit overwhelmed, as did my friend who held the other end of the oh-so-shocking banner 'Lesbian=female homosexual.
I probably should have stepped away from social media, but just before I really began to lose heart I found lots of Anonymous tweets. They support us. They said that patriarchy was raining down on our heads and that they supported feminism and that's what our protest was.
I have no idea how to link the tweets, maybe someone can do it, but it cheered me right up after all the hate.

Back to work and reality today.

Bear in mind that a huge amount of people won't have actually read the articles or anything about the protest's aims- they will just have read the headlines 'anti-trans' and reacted to that on twitter etc. Still frustrating obviously.

Blythe, I’m sorry you had to read all of that.

I also had to turn Twitter off yesterday as I was so sickened and disturbed by the naked hatred and threats of violence directed at GC women after your brave protest. It’s particularly hard to read other women joining in on calls to ‘throw terfs in a volcano’ (seems to be a theme) in their dick-centred desperation to be cool girls and show how woke they are.

You are NOT alone and you have lit a flame, your protest will not be the last.

What the blog linked to above says, seems to me common sense and so beyond question, that it is truly scary it prompts such a reaction.

What constellation of interests are protestors like you threatening? The trans activism and agenda, pharmaceutical industry and existing sex-based hierarchy.

Whereas the reaction to your protest is a direct attack on free speech.

Yes, it’s absolutely worth writing to the Guardian - and the rest.
Challenge every single time they misrepresent you as anti-trans. Complain of bias and inaccuracy. Do as the Trans activists do.

Running with one side’s definition of the other isn’t factual reporting, it’s bias and it should be challenged. You won’t get it changed otherwise.

The Mirror have at least put ‘anti-trans’ in quotes. They are the only ones, but they should headline what the protest was really about.
