I can understand Heather insisting (and Mumsnet agreeing) to delete threads on the claim that they are libellous, because the UK libel laws have a chilling effect on speech - even though it's hard to see a libel suit forthcoming from such a ridiculous person.
It's really that the Labour party has trans blinkers on, so the normal process of reviewing and assessing the credibility of individuals seems to have broken down.
girl** is 'girldick', a reference to Kiwi Farms' joke name for their website host. (Kiwi Farms is a discussion board about internet weirdos basically, and a high % are transgender, so they came out with that as a joke name for their host.)
Kiwi Farms hosts a page on Heather Peto, hence the upset. And they don't delete anything.
I'm not a fan of these threads saying "look at this, transwoman X is saying bad things". I don't think they add much to the debate and mainly just provide ammunition for attacks against MN on social media.
I'm honestly past caring what the Labour Party does or what its representatives do. The party is rife with internal division, ignores misogyny, and its activists are becoming increasingly authoritarian.
I'm glad I left.
You can't win elections by shutting down speech you don't like.
