Corbyn ally urges: 'Thump a feminist'

Article in the Mail

Sophia Botha, a transsexual man who identifies as a woman, shockingly claimed it was justified to ‘thump’ Terfs – a derogatory term for feminists who do not recognise transsexual women as genuinely female.

Ms Botha said hitting Terfs – it stands for Trans-exclusionary radical feminist – was a form of ‘self-defence’.

On an internet blog titled ‘Is it ever justified to thump Terfs?’ she said: ‘Considering Terfs want to exterminate all trans women from the planet any violence directed at Terfs by trans women or trans allies is very much a means of self-defence.’

The article is tagged onto the end of this article about trains.
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5565999/Row-female-compartments-transgender-people-pits-Churchills-grandson-against-Mumsnet.html

I'm stunned that a national newspaper has printed what appears to be an incitement to violence against feminists, along with the totally false claim that feminists want to 'exterminate all trans women'.

Can anyone, anywhere, find ANYTHING about ANY gender critical woman ever wanting anything more than the retention of biological woman only spaces?

Seriously. Anyone?

And those comments.. my God how many men hate women.

Report

hah- have just been looking at the comments- one says, women can't demand to breastfeed in public and then complain about trans people in women's spaces!
then about half of the comments are along the lines of-

but are there men's carriages? eh? eh? no! thought not- because that would be SEXIST wouldn't it! hahahaha feminists, see where your whining has got you

maybe articles in the DM that reach a wider audience aren't the boon we thought

Anyone who threatens women who want to speak out should not be a political candidate.

Anyone who thinks hitting anyone who has views they disagree with needs to take a serious look at themselves.

If Sophia Botha really said this will she be interviewed by the police?

The language used by Sophia Botha is very provocative, saying Terfs want to 'exterminate' all trans women. It'll be interesting to see how much Labour defend this or if they just try to ignore it.

Some of those comments under the article show just how much women are despised, MNers in particular. How dare we want equality!

Two of my favourites are "Mumsnet the birth of menopausal feminist angst" and "Mumsnet is NOT great British institution it's a platform for opinionated, militant women who think the world should kowtow to them because they've given birth."

Still, at least they are fairly open in their misogyny unlike the brocialist TRA supporters.

The party declined to comment on Ms Botha’s blog.

So Labour refuse to denounce a vocal party activist advocating violence against women?

That’s so not cool.

This is the kind of 'politics' supported by mainstream political parties now.

Ok I confess, I'm really, really afraid now. As an older single woman what chance would I stand against these men? What makes it worse is, the Police, our politicians, anyone who could do something to stop this and make me feel safe has drunk the kool aid. My poor daughters and granddaughters!

I'm glad that this person is getting publicity, it might PeakTrans a few people. Also why do they always say that "TERFS" want to exterminate them? Where has that ever been said?

As I said on the other thread, while Venice knows all the information and has made the best decision in the circumstances for her service users, in the long term the answer is to go ahead with these events - and have plenty of people around with cameras. Either it will be proved that this is just online noise and attempts at intimidation and the protest will be rather like is seen at the women's place events of a few cold female uni students with placards who look more in need of a cup of tea and the freedom programme than the riot police. Or there will be several videos to take of a group of anarchists kicking off in a public place around children and families for no discernible reason to the general public, which will then be examined on tv, in the national press and in court.

All this behaviour needs is sunlight and visibility for politicians to start backtracking at the speed of light.

Odd that there's so many transwomen active in politics and so few transmen. It's almost as though male-born people had some kind of advantage in the political arena.

Milliepede (love the name!) did you see the fb posts when a group stood outside court in support regarding the initial hearing on the Speakers Corner incident?

If I remember, it was a request that biological women turned out and stood around the trans members as a human shield against the 'terfs' during the demonstration and that those women must not leave until every trans person had left the site. The fantasy of persecution and the culture of fear is fact optional. Its another element reminiscent of many cults.

Hah, kneedeep. I remember that. IIRC, the directive was also for TRAs to cover their faces but for their bodyguards to keep their faces exposed.

It hasn't. Has anyone on twitter reported that tweet? Even if twitter hates feminists they do have rules about threats of violence. Or am I being naive here?

If so, someone should really read their blog. And twitter feed.

(have NC) There are some TRA accounts which repeat this belief and reinforce it constantly.... I believe in some cases deliberately to fuel fears and cause further divisions. Some people who are transgender will be incredibly vulnerable and susceptible believing this for very good reasons.
( I have similarly grave concerns about how frequently suicide is talked about)

This is evidence of the similarity between the way antisemitism has been handled in the Labour Party and the self id issue.

Ignore. Don't tackle.

Interestingly, in an article about Eddie Iz in the guardian, it comments on a investigative report by the times into 20 LP Facebook groups that uncovered 'racism, misogyny, antisemitism.'

The Sunday Times reported that a two-month investigation into 20 of the biggest pro-Corbyn Facebook groups – headed by We Support Jeremy Corbyn, which has 67,000 members – had uncovered more than 2,000 racist, antisemitic, misogynist, violent and abusive messages.

The paper said 12 Labour staffers working for Corbyn or McDonnell were members of these groups. But it did not provide evidence of any of them posting or supporting offensive messages, and a Labour source said the staff members identified by the paper were adamant they had not seen offensive material of the kind flagged up by the Sunday Times.

I'd be interested to know if the Times would link this mail article to their research.
