I've not read the details but some of you might want to see if your school is on there and what exactly is being championed within it.

Delighted to see my DC's school isn't included

This is a tough one, a couple of years ago I would be really pleased that my children's school were engaging with Stonewall and educating about same sex relationships and combating homophobia.

Now Stonewall seems to have been overrun by the trans borg to teach what appears to be (in my opinion) the exact opposite of the gay and lesbian message of love and accept who you are I'm not really on board with it anymore.

My child's primary school recently had a Stonewall partner company in educating them using cartoons based on fairy tales. Having watched the videos myself the trans video directly contradicted the message of the gay video.

On one hand you had two Princes who married each other and were very happy just being themselves and in love and that was okay. The next video was a girl who liked cars and motorbikes and whose big brothers were mean to her about it so the solution to this was to become a boy - only then could she go to ball and fall in love with the Princess (as a male).

Upshot of that message. If you are a gay man being gay is totally okay. If you are a lesbian or GNC woman that's not okay and you must be a man. Angry

Ova WTF, that is ridiculous! Gay man being gay message, no problem with that bit.
The other one, though? The girl who liked so called "boy" stuff so must be a boy? Angry
That could have been me as a kid (back in the saner times of the 70s and 80s.) Playing in the mud, climbing trees, liking trucks, hating dolls, pink, never wearing make up = I'm definitely nothing other than 100% female though and always have been.
To think if I was a kid now I could be fed that kind of shit is pretty chilling as how confusing must that be to have to listen to? Sad

Glad to see my DC's current school and intended secondary is not on the list, my old college is though.

I’m so glad that the schools around me aren’t on the list and neither is the school my daughter teaches at. Strange that the Catholic High tha’s down the road is though

It is ridiculous Cady I made a thread about it at the time. You can watch the video here (all the videos are on youtube)

It's a shame because I thought the company was fairly good otherwise for the age level it was aiming at.

Our school is on there. What do we think being a champion involves? I'm all for the LGB just not the T...

Our local girls' school is on there but not the boys' school. Interestingly I have seen a Stonewall poster at the boys' school.

A local Muslim girls' school is also on there. I wonder if they know they are on there?

Hell. My dc's school is on there. I cannot believe it. They have always been so sensible!

Time for me to download Transgendertrend's School Resource Pack and send it to them.

Oh thank God my kids school isn't on there. Neither is the secondary school she's going to. Huge relief.

Scary the number of schools on the list though. :(

My daughter’s girls school is on there.
She hasn’t started there yet - due to go in September Sad. She’s being well inoculated against this cultish thinking but this should never have been allowed to get into schools.

Our school is pretty sensible. I would guess they've sent someone on the 'Don't be homophobic arseholes' training rather than the 'pink is for girls' one. But I will check when I figure out quite how to...

I would guess they've sent someone on the 'Don't be homophobic arseholes' training rather than the 'pink is for girls' one.

I don't think they have any separate training, either they include both or they've eliminated the first one.

Don't know how up to date that list is because my school is one but isn't on it.

Report
Anasnake · 22/03/2018 17:05

They do have separate training for different elements

Is there a summary online anywhere of what Stonewall are telling schools? Not their blue sky summary obviously.

Blimey all my local secondary schools, apart from the girl's school is on that list.
I think that if it was just the LGB education that would be fab. More of it! My 7yo is constantly telling me how she's correcting her friends when they say girls can't love girls and boys can't love boys etc.
We need more positive reinforcement of same sex relationships. I also feel that with good modelling of equality the gender expectations could be reset so you've got boys playing with dolls freely, girls playing with cars without stigma.
There's no need to be throwing ideas of gender nonconformity at small children by telling them there's this magical way to be accepted, take a shit tonne of drugs and you can play with the 'other' toys

Current school isn’t on the list, but unfortunately the secondary school is.

They have a list of courses somewhere. One is 'how to make your school transinclusive' or some old shit and one is 'tackling homophobic bullying' or similar. I think. Unless I read it wrong.

We need to get in touch with the sex education forum or someone else campaigning on young people and sex and relationships issues. brook? Family planning association?www.sexeducationforum.org.uk
www.brook.org.uk
www.fpa.org.uk

Absolutely there should be discussion in schools on this issue. Not dogma. If you’re going to invite one side of the story in, invite the gender critical side in too. Invite in transgendertrend and use their school pack.

I wonder if the British Humanist Association or someone like that would be interested in this? Surely it’s exactly the same as ‘pro lifers’ bring able to go into schools and tell all the kids lies about how an abortion is a kind of murder which will give them breast cancer and infertility..? It’s pushing a political view on the kids in the absence of specialist knowledge in general on the part of the teacher, meaning extreme claims or actual lies can go unchallenged and unbalanced by an informed, alternative viewpoint.
