Hi all,

Received a reply from my MP (Tory grandee) about the GRA. Hope it's readable. As you can see he's going to write to the Minister and let me know. I hope coming from him (he's well respected in the party) it'll help. He also seems to grasp the arguments well. Hurray. Happy IWD (and my DS' birthday too!!) SmileThanks

That's great!

I think that might have been the best reply I've seen so far. I wonder if the Tories have dropped any sort of party line on this now Miller & Greening are no longer in charge of of GRA reform.

Have to say thanks to all the incredibly eloquent posters on this board that helped me organise my thoughts and gave me the confidence to email him. I've never been a Tory voter but his response (and his views on Brexit too) do make me think that maybe I could vote Tory....? Confused Strange times.

Very sensible response - although like a PP I can’t believe the tories currently seem like my best voting option Hmm

I can’t belive the conservatives are the only decent option.

I don’t think I can bring myself to vote for them though.

Ooh, is it Ken Clarke?

How are Tories the sensible voting option when Maria Miller (a Tory) is the one chairing the committee proposing self-ID? If it comes into force, it will be a TORY policy. Labour are as bad. There are NO sensible voting options.

I think KC too from the formatting and description; I hope so. If I had an anti Brexit, One Nation Tory (can't believe UKIP twat has stolen that name for his new party) such as Clarke for my MP, I probably would consider a vote for them right now.

fab well done. at least one mp understands the difference between cross dressing and gender dysphoria...

This is great but if it is who people have guessed then it means I will be very torn come the next election (although I think he’s retiring?)

TerfyMcTerface · 08/03/2018 16:32

Out of interest, does anyone know of any Tory MPs apart from Maria Miller who have come out in favour of self-ID?

Congratulations! (if that is the right word) on that response. He gets it.

definitely the best reply I've seen

although I'm still hoping for one that says "gender is a social construct"....Grin

that's good though.

my MP is normally very efficient and has now ignored 3 letters on the subject. I think he thinks I'm a TERF, in a bad way. I can't vote Labour anyway so it's all moot.

😍 after voting Labour my whole adult life, why is it that the Tories are the only party who currently make sense..?!

I mean, if I were a cynical sort, I might suggest that this had been done deliberately to discredit Labour and, in true Emperor's New Clothes style, everyone else just jumped on it.

Who knows...

But, either way, good response!

That's wonderful. It's refreshing to read some common sense!

Wow! What a contrast with the patronising, evasive, passive-aggressive Labour responses

Oh I like that. We have a Cons MP, I would love to write to him but don’t feel confident in expressing myself, without resorting to “this policy is bullshit”Grin

Well bloody done - can I ask a favour of either the OP or anyone else that can help? I'd also like to email/write to my MP but need a hand putting something together.

I need it to be spot on and completely eloquent which wont happen if I'm left to my own devices.

Can anyone share here or pm me a copy and paste of their email?

It's a great reply.
Note the last paragraph talking about refuges, he's accidently used "self identifies as a man" instead of the other way round. It's so bloody confusing!

It's devastating that only Tories are using their heads on this.

My MP hasn't replied to my letter yet.. I wonder how long you give them? Labour too...and always had my vote... but sadly probably never again.

Decent response, thanks for sharing OP. Not heard a peep from mine (Labour, female, safe seat) after several weeks..
