What do you all think if this? It doesn’t seem fair to me

ChiefClerkDrumknott Wed 14-Feb-18 12:54:32

Ridiculous

InfiniteSheldon Wed 14-Feb-18 12:55:58

Obviously not fair

dantdmistedious Wed 14-Feb-18 12:56:00

I think its fucking ridiculous and scary how such a minority are having such a massive impact.

Popchyk Wed 14-Feb-18 12:56:10

clicky link

Another day, another kick in the teeth for women.

OvaHere Wed 14-Feb-18 13:11:55

Fair doesn't seem to come into it anymore. May as well get rid of all sporting segregation and categories. Don't bother with dope testing either.

Seems like anything goes when it comes to winning if this is what is setting a precedent.

Australian Rules Football
'Players can position themselves anywhere on the field & may use any part of their bodies to move the ball.making it a more physical-contact sport.more similar to Rugby'
He is a strongly built man over 6 feet tall.My daughter,5 foot six and 9 stone successfully played Rugby for years against much bigger women ,but his physical advantage will be overwhelming .
Utter madness
.

InfiniteSheldon Wed 14-Feb-18 13:46:38

More than overwhelming dangerous how can people not see this is a death knell for women's sport

Valentinesfart Wed 14-Feb-18 14:31:43

The BBC have been as kind as possible only using a head shot I think.

Valentinesfart Wed 14-Feb-18 14:32:07

Honestly though. If you saw "hannah" you'd assume there was a stag do about.

OneFlewOverTheDodosNest Wed 14-Feb-18 14:32:20

Hannah Mouncey broke a woman's leg whilst playing at a regional level which is not surprising at 6 ft 3 and 15 st 10 lbs.

Mouncey is in fact significantly taller and heavier than the average Australian Footballer men's league player but you notice that from the headshot that the BBC chose to show rather than a picture of Mouncey next to the rest of the team.

OvaHere Wed 14-Feb-18 14:34:52

I hate how the BBC are so complicit in much of this madness. I hope they are held to account at some point along with the Guardian.

OneFlewOverTheDodosNest Wed 14-Feb-18 14:35:09

Previous clicky thread from when Mouncey was initially rejected from AFL.

I give it 3 months before there's a serious injury to a female player as a consequence of this decision and I hope to God that whoever gets hurt sues the AFL for every damn penny.

Pythagonal Wed 14-Feb-18 14:36:36

Is it just me, or does Hannah really look like He-man in the Money's upstairs ads in that first photo?

Valentinesfart Wed 14-Feb-18 14:37:35

Any Australians about? How do the females players who need to play against Hannah feel about it? I assume her team are fine with it as it's an advantage and they won't end up with broken legs... (Much like "Gabrielle's" basketball coach)

Valentinesfart Wed 14-Feb-18 14:39:23

I don't actually like poking fun at transwomen's appearance in case they are legitimate and have dysphoria etc, and being a woman isn't about looks anyway. However, I am struggling with what is clearly an absolutely brutish jaw on what is obviously a large male.

blaaake Wed 14-Feb-18 14:39:40

So she was shit on the men's team and decided she'd do better competing against women (obviously), and didn't even thank them for letting her? Fuck right off

mimivanne Wed 14-Feb-18 14:44:22

Apart from the obvious'wrongness' of this,I've been wondering who will pay to watch it ?

OneFlewOverTheDodosNest Wed 14-Feb-18 14:51:20

mimi my worst fear is that they've done this knowing it will create an uproar and will increase viewing of the women's game.

noraclavicle Wed 14-Feb-18 14:52:05

“Apart from the obvious'wrongness' of this,I've been wondering who will pay to watch it ?“

Ooh, dunno. Maybe raging misogynists and the kind of Labour folk who have secret FB pages with ‘Down with cis’ as their banners? Just a wild guess.

Teetotal2018 Wed 14-Feb-18 14:57:39

I don’t like poking fun at the way trans folk look (or anyone for that matter) but if I was a player on the opposing team I would be outraged! This person clearly has a gender advantage!

Patodp Wed 14-Feb-18 15:01:34

They wrote 4 pages about how difficult it all is, me, me, trans women, me, I should never have been held back, science is on my side, no one understands me....
Not even a thought to women, girls, any acknowledgement at all. The women who have to play up against a 6 foot 3 bloke.
I will never understand how this OK.

Valentinesfart Wed 14-Feb-18 15:05:01

"It would be wrong to thank them for letting me play since everyone has the right" fuck off fuck off

OvaHere Wed 14-Feb-18 15:37:15

One Flew

my worst fear is that they've done this knowing it will create an uproar and will increase viewing of the women's game.

Kind of what this article says

"There'll be a few more people at the game hopefully, I think there'd be a lot more people interested to see what happens," Rourke said.

www.canberratimes.com.au/sport/act-sport/ainslie-dont-expect-hostile-crowds-should-hannah-mouncey-return-to-afl-canberra-20180213-h0w201.html

Valentinesfart Wed 14-Feb-18 16:01:53

Give it 15 years of this nonsense and "people of indeterminate gender but with xx chromosomes" will create their own teams again. Maybe we can even start a movement for the liberation of people with xx chromosomes
