The Leader of the Labour Party believes that the penis is a female organ

Why have NO MPs challenged this?

Jeremy Corbyn told Andrew Marr that a 'man who self IDs as woman' is eligible to stand on an all women's shortlist, so he obviously believes that a man who says he's is a woman magically becomes one.. There's been a lot of comment, criticism from women and some men. But MPs have been silent. Why?

Shouldn't our leaders in a democratic society have a view on a proposed change so profound? Should this be the question that we ask of all of them?

Yes! Unfortunately we (the women without penises) continue to be passive. I suspect in part due to social conditioning but also because we’re all so fucking busy looking after children, elderly parents and our husbands 🙄

They're scared of losing their jobs. It's not something a small number of them can speak up against as the party line, as set by JC, is so definite and objecting to it all is entering an arena of instant condemnation, not one of debate.

I'm in two minds on this, I want mine to speak up but at the same time they are doing some really valuable, outspoken work in other areas and I wouldn't want to lose that.

It might be that it comes down to them arguing over finer details rather than the ideology, or that they take the lead from their constituents, or even that they need to wait for public opinion to change on this one.

I saw him say this on The Andrew Marr Show.

Andrew Matt didn’t even question him. He just moved into the next question Hmm

I understand that - but what does it say about arguably the biggest social change ever .... and our MPs are silent through fear?

It says the leadership have their heads up their own arses. I shall be fighting quietly and reasonably from within, thought about giving up my membership but haven't yet.

On a related note, what are people's experiences of writing to Labour MPs on this topic? Labour is still in listening/consultation mode over AWSs, at least that's what they say.

My (Labour) MP says people that dont support it uncritically are bigots that need re-educating.

Which women Labour MPs are likely to support a more GC position?

I wonder whether we just need to start asking ALL of our MPs the question - "Do you believe that the penis a female organ?" And persuade the media to do the same.

It shouldn't take them them long to answer yes or no........

I also think we should be asking all MPs not just the women, would be good if men would take responsibility for men's issues (I appreciate some already are in the media, which is good). And I've asked mine, am awaiting a reply.

There are only 2 MPs I've seen even questioning it. Both Conservatives. One male one female.

Yes, this shouldn't be just about women MPs. I do have some (limited) sympathy for many Labour women as the lefty Momentum bigots are just poised waiting to jump and get them de-selected. Maybe we can get this as an issue for the next election? On every election leaflet:

This MP believes that the penis IS / IS NOT a female organ.

I think we may have to force them to come out about this as at the moment MPs are quivering behind platitudes while behind the scenes the trans pressure groups rampage on changing society without any democratic support / sanction.

How about asking jc if he thinks that someone could birth a baby out of a female penis

JC is like a lot of people, the need to be seen as progressive and the right site of history drives them to not think critically. I know I was one of them until I noticed a lot of conflicting views being spouted by very Libfems, it led me to question what I believe and why I believe it.

There should be places where people can debate the issues on hand and think critically about them, this used to be universities but now the safe space to actually talk and discuss issues no longer exists in the non-internet world. A politician should be the person who is encouraging discuss and debate, as that is what they do in their job. It’s sad that JC ain’t doing it.

it's about as big an issue as it gets for a leader of a political party - to believe something that defies all biological and scientific facts and to act on it. To change policy and presumably, if Labour win the next election, the law.
I'm actually looking forward to hearing him explain this to the nation Grin

I think Mumsnet HQ should invite him for a webchat where he can explain to mums how female biology works in this brave new world. This bigot is certainly open to being "educated".

We need to keep asking the questions - the oxygen of publicity and all that.
It's only when our political classes are forced to articulate what is happening that voters will actually appreciate these changes.

sings... Oh Jeremy Corbyn - is the penis female? ....

I can just see how well 'The penis is a female organ' is going to go down with the people Labour believe are their core supporters, I am sure most of them reading it will read it as "They are calling me a woman???"

Labour Party support amongst women has dropped due to this debate (as outlined on a thread here yesterday) it will drop further and faster if the above is widely publicised.

Grin I know he's good at avoiding questions iamawoman:
"I condemn all bullying" while ignoring all the misogyny and anti semitism raging around him. But maybe the twitterati could start pushing journalists to ask JC the question:
"Is the penis a female organ Mr Corbyn? "

He's a weak leader who has inexplicably achieved a cult following. So much of our national culture seems to revolve around cult-like thinking at the moment. Cult Corbyn. Cult Brexit. Cult Trans. Ask for a bit of critical thinking and you're asking to be burnt at the stake. I can't remember any other political leader having to constantly reiterate "I condemn all bullying" (not that he actually does anything about it). It says something about the people surrounding him.

The latest YouGov poll shows a 3 point drop for Labour in the last week, putting them behind the Tories for the first time since early December. This is election-losing stuff.
