I'm really tempted to come. I think I will - I've got a ticket. Just need to work out if I can finish work and get there on time

I'm going! It's the first one I've been able to attend.

Looking forward to it particularly in having it made real so to speak. Am a wee bit isolated here and my 'activism' takes place on line and in rants to my long suffering family while pacing the living room!

Oh what a proud parenting moment!

No, I don't think there's been any trouble as such, though there is always an attempt to disrupt the venue.

I'm definitely going. Considering taking my dd but I don't know.

Do you mind me asking how old your daughter is B0033 because my daughter has expressed an interest but I am concerned that she might be too young.

Also while I think it would be great for her to meet strong feminist women (that aren't her crazy mother). I think she would get bored quickly of listening to speeches...actually I've talked myself out of bringing her. Maybe another time Smile

My daughter is also 14 but I think I'll be leaving her at home for this one

I'm not sure if she'll be interested, tbh. It was just a thought.

I've never been to an event like this.

I'm intending to go. It will be the first event of this kind that I have been to as well.

I also have a 14 (nearly 15) yo daughter who wants to go. In honesty, I've been trying to put her off because i'm worried there might be 'trouble'.

would love to go to this but booked out with work - I hope there are more events and thanks for bringing it to my attention as wanted to get more active in this space and good place to start

Thanks OP, I've got a ticket.

We are indoctrinating our daughters in feminist ways Grin

Good! Hopefully my daughter will see through all the patriarchal bullshit far sooner than I ever did. And like I said we're isolated and I think my daughter (and I) would benefit greatly from socialising with strong women.

I get your point about the possibility of there being trouble Thyme but I'm not sure I would allow that to stop me I would just prepare to be vigilant.

Like B0033, I just don't think she'd be interested. Well not interested enough to stick it out without moaning to leave at any rate!

I'm going and again have never been to anything like this before. We need to meet up beforehand and link in solidarity through the barricades of screaming TAs..... :)

That is also a concern of mine!

I may go alone on this occasion.

I'll be by myself so if anyone's up for meeting beforehand I'm in!

Report
Imherefornow · 18/12/2017 14:34

Me too! I don't know manchester very well so it would be great to meet up.

I am now trying to decide whether or not to drive or get the train...

Report
busyboysmum · 18/12/2017 14:48

I'm on my own so up for meeting up too.

Imherefornow · 18/12/2017 15:01

Great! Not to be paranoid, but how do we arrange this safely!? Any ideas?

Closed FB group maybe? Other than that not sure, I was thinking the same though.

I'll be going on the train. I'm about 35 minutes north of Manchester.

Report
Imherefornow · 18/12/2017 15:32

Well that's a very sensible suggestion hairyhands!

To be honest I was hoping for something far more covert...like a hat with a daisy and a secret phrase Grin

I don't really do facebook and don't know how secret groups work...
