Labour Woman's officer thinks that trans woman are a larger percentage of the population than woman who have experienced sexual assault or rape.

I'm not a LP member and I'm not a constituent. Who do I complain to about this?

Jesus christ..he is so clueless it would be laughable if it wasn't so worrying.

Did you ask "Lily" how many women are raped and how many are trans. I'd be interested to know how they can do their job while knowing nothing about sexual assault.

What does he have to do.....

Takes the piss

I think he's saying that the percentages are higher for transwomen than for women.

Not sure that's true either, at least in the UK.

They need to keep prodding him and keeping the evidence of what he says
because eventually he will be exposed by his own words..

I don't know the context of that tweet, but I am astonished that someone at the beginning of their (mainstream) political career could be so dismissive of victims of sexual violence Shock

It would be like (inspired by another poster said on a different thread) me saying that people who are trans-black like me, are greater in number than victims of racially motivated hate crime Shock

Shock I just don’t know what to say anymore.

I'm not the person who tweeted Lily, I'm just an enraged member of the public (without a twitter account) who's seen it.

I've already written to my own MP about GRA and am waiting for a meeting.

Who do I complain to about how offended I am by that level of idiocy? Surely the Labour Party would want to know/have a right to know why people won't vote for them?

Oh dear. This shows such a lack of knowledge and experience and it supports the anxiety that Lily is about transwomens issues, not women’s issues.
I think contacting the relevant organisations would be a good idea.

If this doesn’t show how completely unsuitable he is for the role of women’s officer then I don’t know what will.

I think he's saying that the percentages are higher for transwomen than for women.

I imagine so too, otherwise that would clearly be bonkers Confused. I know all of this is bonkers but...

Anyway, the percentage of women who have experienced sexual assault must be close to 100%. It can't be much higher for transwomen, simply because there isn't much higher you can go.

Otoh if he's saying that transwomen form a larger percentage of the population than women who have been sexually assualted, then... well, he's really, really bad at maths.

Whatever it is he's saying here, he's wrong.

He shows his nativity and inexperience every time he opens his gob. Or in this case his laptop.

Yes, there's that too. The flip little comment and hand gesture.

I always think deadname is such a cruel term - when you think of the thought and care most parents put into choosing their child’s name, to have it dismissed like that.

MyBrilliantDisguise · 15/12/2017 16:50

"Deadname"? Oh god, that is a terrible term. His poor parents, to have that period of their lives wiped out.

I would call Lily a silly little girl, except they would take it as validation

That didn't stop him requesting money in his 'deadname'...seems it is only dead now and then.

I'm waiting for little Lils to get on with the job rather than tweeting about personal family arguments. This sort of thing is not what public figures are meant to do.

Besides which, my parents still randomly call all of us pet names that haven't suited us for decades. Be glad it's just 'Liam', dear self-obsessed one, rather than Sausage, Dilly Daydream, Bongo or Chubster.

Yes in his quest to play the poor little victim, he is willing to publicly humiliate his own Mum, who incidentally still puts him up at home.

Nice.

How many kids has Lily's Mum got? I've got 5, they have a pretty poor chance of being called by the right name without one of them changing! So they often get called sweet pea as an all encompassing even as teens/adults. They manage to still get on with their lives without having a hissy fit on twitter!!

It’s probably basing it on the 85,000 women a year who are raped, and the 650,000 trans-people there are.

Not taking into account those who don’t report rape. Not taking into account those who are actually killed. Not taking into account sexual harassment which is endemic. Not taking into account that half those trans people are women anyway.

If anyone is on Twitter, I believe the #metoo campaign extended to, I want to say, 11 million? I don’t do Twitter, but, from what I understand, it’s just how many times it’s been tweeted?

Any chance someone could take a screenshot of that, post to his feed and add the appropriate withering comment.

You really don’t get women, do you? Should do it.
