This is brilliant - Janice Turners is amazing. I'm so glad someone is writing about this, and in a national newspaper too. I really hope this starts to change people's minds about how harmful this whole narrative is.

I really don't understand how the gay community aren't in uproar about the gay eugenics that is going on.

What a brilliant and troubling article, thanks for posting. I find it very worrying that a doctor can diagnose ‘trans’ in 10 minutes! As a society we are failing our children if we can’t support them properly to be who they are, regardless of sexuality, sex and gender. We are failing those who are trans by not offering them the counselling they need to be able to cope with the enormity of changing their gender, as much as we are failing those who are struggling with bullying and abuse and see transitioning as a panacea for their problems. It needs to be talked about openly.

Thanks for posting that text.

It really is like a terrifying juggernaut that can't be stopped. In 10 years time there is going to be an awful lot of damaged adults.

Some great articles- particularly like this from here Wiki

In 2016, she won the award "A Woman's Voice" in the Editorial Intelligence awards which she declined with the following statement: "'Man is defined as a human being and a woman as a female.' Simone de Beauvoir wrote those words in 1949. And in journalism, they are still true.

Sadly it’s not just journalism ...

That's a brilliant and deeply troubling article. Reading it I suddenly had the insight that transitioning could actually be a really understandable response to being a teenage girl today. There are so many horribly gendered stereotypes forced on them, and so much confusion in the messages they get about sex, that I don't blame them for trying to opt out.

Further, in this capitalist society everyone is encouraged to imagine that they are wrong if they don't fit in with the barbie-doll image of womanhood they are presented with. There's no sense of trying to change the world, just of trying to change yourself. And yet, as the heartbreaking stories above make clear, we all want to feel part of our peer group and be accepted for who we are. So these poor girls feel they have to transition in the hope of finally fitting in.

I'm a lesbian and have never doubted that I am a woman. However, if I was a teenager now I can quite easily see myself being tempted to go down the transition route, and that terrifies me.

Good article.
It's given me two free Times articles a week. Only had to sign up with name and e-mail, no credit card. I might be on Murdochs list now but at least I'm not giving him any cash.

Good luck Janice,
You will need it

I predict this will be a Weinstein/kids company type scandal in a few years.

Stonewall should be fucking ashamed of themselves.

Stonewall and Ruth Hunt are trans mouthpieces nowadays. That's all Sad

The only trans person I know is ftm. She doesn not fit this because as a girl and woman she was heterosexual. She grew up in the bubbliest of middle class bubbles- being gay or lesbian raised no eyebrows. Her sister is a lesbian.

In his new estate he continues to be attracted to men. I'm guessing the dating pool of heterosexual men who want to date a vaginaed person who looks like and says they are a man is as small as the dating pool of gay men who want to date a vagina owning man.

Some heterosexual girls / women transition because they want to have relationships with men but don't want to be the 'woman' in a relationship. Others are yaoi fangirls who fetishize a thoroughly unrealistic view of gay men and want to bring their fantasy into real life.

I’ll adopt,” he says cheerfully.

I'm always amazed when people say this, and not just young ones like Alex either. They have no idea how hard it is!
