Likening it to a politician being interviewed by Humphries. Twat!

What a terrible excuse for a human being he is. Can’t believe he did that. Tosser.

There was follow up comment about Humphries’ style being “worse than a light groping” though it was quick fire and could have been Gove, Kinnock or Humphries. Angry

I don’t have a Twitter account, but if I did I’d be ripping #r4today a new one.

Yep heard it. Was pretty shocked.

I didn't think it was possible for my lack of respect for gove to go any lower. It just did.

What did he actually say? I was listening but missed it (too many kids arguing over the best spoon).

It was along the line that preparing to be interviewed on R4 Today was like heading up to Weinstein’s hotel room for a meeting. I posted straight away so you should be able to find it easily on listen again.

Good. People are tweeting on the #r4today hashtag about it. Nick Robinson’s included part of the quote and its worse than I said: mobile.twitter.com/SmithTonyD/status/924176093665472512

I was really disappointed that the audience laughed along. Stunned silence or boos would have been a much better response.

The hilarious follow-up quip was Kinnock, I think. I'm sure they thought it was great bants Angry

Yes Kinnock joined in enthusiastically as well.

Heard this. Was very disappointed.

Can't blame R4 though, it was live (wasn't it) and it was Gove.

^^Although someone should have pulled him up on it.

Wasn't there a story yesterday about how nobody was taking the claims of sexual assault and harassment in Westminster seriously? Wonder why. Hmm

Gove has tweeted an apology, which is something, I suppose:

'Apologies for my clumsy attempt at humour on R4 Today this morning -it wasn't appropriate. I'm sorry and apologise unreservedly'

Nick Robinson, on the other hand, is busy defending sharing Gove's words in a tweet because he did so 'without comment' - spectacularly failing to see that's that's kind of the point...

I can't decide who I dislike the most, him or his partner. I think he might have won with this little gem.

She’ll be all over the place moaning about people being too pc and taking offence over nothing soon no doubt.
I don’t like Gove in the slightest bit I honestly thought he had more sense than to make ‘jokes’ like that.

badbadhusky · 28/10/2017 11:04

Yeah, there’s nothing more hilarious than a sexual predator with several decades’ abuse under his belt. Hmm

It's what he really thinks. The apology means nothing except that he wishes he'd thought about it first. I think you can tell an awful lot about people by the off the cuff 'jokes' that they make.

Report
FlorenceLyons · 28/10/2017 12:35

What I find particularly hard to fathom is that I don’t think this was off the cuff. Gove notoriously prepares meticulously for everything, and this came across as pre-planned to me.

Report
Knusper · 28/10/2017 12:41

Ugh. Gove. Words fail me. Just as bad is the the other men's response/non response.

And people wonder why women often don't come forward when sexually assaulted.
