Organising this fight.

On another thread I have been wondering if we can't organise and fight this fight properly.

I'm hoping this thread can be a space for us to organise and think about what we do next and throw out ideas.

I think we need a central website that will have a name that's also appealing to non feminists.

As in the other thread , I'm happy to open my home as a point to chat and organise. I'm in south London.

I also think we should have a social media campaign and as many of us as possible make videos for our social media accounts, even if you are crap at this as I am, I can't edit or anything. So long as you feel able.

We need to put together ten points at least for this. The first five of which need to be snappy and appeal to most women if people want to make shorter videos.

There is no point preaching to the choir, we need to have this simplified and slick enough to appeal to women like my sister who is working class as I am and just ignores every bloody thing I send her on this topic.

On the other hand we need to have the intellectual women ready to go with mass media and write their blogs etc.

Also I think the Richie Allen show would be a good place to send someone on, we have to choose who. I would do it but I'm shit at remembering facts and figures really. I'm no intellectual I'm afraid.

I'm a bit pissed tonight do this might not be totally coherent but you know what I'm saying here.

We have to fight back.

Obviously on the centr website we will link to every good site about this and connect with those women and men.

Perhaps we could have a weekly vlog too. Ask people to make a short video for us and show a different one every week on the social media platforms to keep it interesting.

Miranda Yardley and other people.

I know nothing about setting up a website, would this cost money?

Then obviously we would have our Facebook YouTube and twitter accounts all connected with the main website.

Also organise a march and conscious raising groups as they did in the 60's~70's

You can start the first one in my living room once a month.

Fight back against what exactly? People choosing their gender and being supported through the process by the NHS? Heck, no!

But M to F transgenders telling us how to be women? I support the point but don’t see what there is to fight for. I don’t regard trans-genders as being in my pool of competition in any sphere, tbh.

Fight back against men being able to identify as female on a whim, be transferred to women's prisons, enter women's spaces like the situation at the Barbican right now, the men's loos there are carrying on just fine.

Children being prescribed pills that will make them infertile. Women's sports. Ring taken over by bigger stronger men, gallon fox being a good case.

Young lesbians being encouraged to identify as male and have mastectomy without proper counselling.

And so on and so on. Just all this shit.

Also toilets and changing rooms, no one actually fucking asked us women if we are ok with this!

If we lose these spaces for biological women that were hard fought for in the first place we lose a lot, including even just having a space to escape to and talk to other women if you are being harassed.

All of this. No matter where you are on the spectrum of terfyness. Or maybe you aren't feminist at all, but people need to know what the fuck is happening and right now they don't.

Everyone just assume that our politicians/parents will sort this out for our best interests. That clever people somewhere will fix it so it's not actually a problem and anyone complaining is just being prejudiced.

This is not the fucking case. This is an Orwellian nightmare made real and we need to FIGHT!!!!!

highinthesky

A fight back against self ID with no gatekeeping.

I don’t regard trans-genders as being in my pool of competition in any sphere, tbh.

Really?

  • Sport
  • Awards and grants designed to redress sex-based disadvantage
  • Beds on female hospital wards
  • Safe accommodation in prisons, women's rehabilitation programmes
  • Places in refuges
  • Places in women only colleges, schools, clubs

And that's just competition. Not even scratching the surface of safety issues. Or many women's preference for single sex facilities and groups.

I have never seen a poster here argue against basic rights for transgender people. What we object to is hard-won women's rights and protections being damaged in favour of the fad for transgender validation.

We object to the fact that transsexual and dysphoric people are finding it increasingly difficult to access mental health care - even when they want it - because of the push for normalisation.

We object to the medicalisation and ultimate sterilisation of children in the name of transactivism. We object to the homophobia and misogyny that it often promotes.

Great idea. There was another thread on organising ourselves and I think there is a closed facebook page too. Need to check back.
Like the 'I am woman'.

It's done. There won't be a U - turn.

We can't even have threads on a predominantly female site like MN about male violence or abuse without some dickhead coming on and saying 'women are abusive too you know'.

What about the menz wankerz.

There are already women organising and fighting and all those gender critical articles you're starting to see in the press? That's because of these women.
Rather than starting drunk ranty threads that are hard to follow why don't you get involved with some of the links you have been given such as a women's place, sages and fair play for women. They all have Facebook pages which you can follow and use to network with other like minded women.
Sorry I don't mean to be snippy but there is activism going on so women need to get involved. I've noticed a large number of splinter groups popping up on Facebook recently with little cohesion so it's far better if women look to sites and groups that have already been set up by women with experience in politics, journalism and academia.
If you want to connect with other women there are lots of closed Facebook groups that can be found which you can join.

I love most of what I've read in the links above but I think a lot more needs to be presented in basic terms so it is accessible to people who are put off by the traditional "branding" (for want of a better word).

I started talking about being gender critical to my MIL the other day and she was very dismissive. However eventually we got talking about transwomen on women's hospital wards (she is a former nurse who has just been in hospital) through sheer self identification and she was horrified and her ears soon pricked up to the rest of the conversation.

Would it be an idea to produce stickers and possibly place them in women's spaces?

Something like

WOMENS SPACE
(The sexes are segregated in areas like these - changing rooms, hospital wards, blah, blah for a reason - concisely explained reasoning - this is soon to change. If the law changes (as is proposed) men will be able to identify as women and appear in these spaces when they feel like it. For you to dispute their presence will be treated as a hate crime.)
