The victim, who is a transman, says of the rapist "He was treating us like a woman and saw me as a woman".

The rapist was convicted of a second rape of a female student.

I find this a bit confusing, as the victim says, the rapist saw them as a woman and wanted to rape a woman. The rapist then raped a second woman. The victim, however, believes they are a man.

Presumably this goes down in stats as a rape of a man?

Basically the victim is arguing, or believes, that they have acquired male privilege by being a transman, specifically the male privilege of not being at serious risk of rape and sexually assault.

And the rapist has shown that this is not the case.

A transman does not acquire male privilege, while transwomen retain theirs.

As would any one else looking at this person. It is very sad for them but their subjective belief does not trump the objective biological reality.

What a sad case. Well, all cases such as these are sad of course, but the delusion of these people. If only one could identify their way out of sexual assault and such. Reminds me of the case of a transman who was raped by a taxi driver who couldn't understand what was going on as she apparently kept telling the rapist she was a man and he didn't listen.

Yes, I expect this will go down in stats as rape of a man. Given transwomen who rape go down as women who rape..it probably does work vice versa too

It's so obvious, it's almost painful.

It's yet another crushing failire of the trans-ideology. Persuading young women that they can identify out of their oppression.

That poor woman. Where on earth does that leave her?

if it was a vaginal rape then I imagine it will be listed as rape of a woman.

but I don't know what the official rules are in regards to rape in a trans case.

Well the lipstick and jewellery is a bit confusing on someone who wants to be perceived as a man Confused
NOT that that justifies the rapist's actions in the least, obviously.

It's a terrible thing for anyone to suffer, but I hope he doesn't think that for him it was somehow worse.

She would have been a lot safer identifying as a butch lesbian and living in a hostel for women.

This is why safe spaces for women are needed. Such a shame this person was unable to escape from male violence, regardless of their presentation.

What I just said sounded unkind. I'll try to explain it better:

One of the worst aspects for many women, including myself, who have been raped or sexually assaulted, is the violation of the image you have of yourself. One minute you're a competent professional; happy after a night with your friends; celebrating your exam results; safe in your home; getting your life together after difficulties. The next you're being held down and fucked. It isn't about sexual desire. It's about power and assertion and domination. It's about putting you back in your box. What you are is a hole to be fucked, and nothing more.

So this trans guy will be traumatised because the rapist violated not just his body, but his image of himself. That is the same for every person, male or female, who is raped. His suffering must be terrible, but it is not somehow worse because he is a trans man.

His delusion was that being a 'man' made him safe from this guy's attentions. It didn't, because rapists don't care about our personal gender identity. I worry for the mental health of all young girls who think they can somehow opt out of all that goes with being female :(

Good point different. It is a hard thing to articulate just how it robs you of your previous self image, I agree Flowers

It's why I get so angry when trans activists accuse us of 'reducing us to our body parts'. I for one am campaigning because we as biological women are forcibly reduced to our female body parts. It doesn't matter how we identify or what we call ourselves. I want it to stop, but it shows no sign of stopping. Until the magical day when it does, we need safe spaces for biologically female people. Women.

The rapists; the sex traffickers; the marriers of child brides; the Eve-teasers and schoolgirl-shooters; the aborters of female foetuses; the people in my country who force women to carry pregnancies against their will. The catcallers and flashers and Harvey Weinstein and all his filthy ilk don't give a flying fuck about what is between our ears. They care only about what is between our legs. And for that reason so do I. We have no choice.

Excellent post differenteverytime

And you're quite right. In fact the very discussion robs us. We have to remain calm, logical, rational. We have to point out over and over, the reasons. We can't yell and shout. Emoting ruins our credibility. What a bloody laugh.

If you could colour in what a woman is thinking about when she is speaking about this, the colours would be red and black, jagged and jarring. Being forced to articulate it when so much of it is beyond articulation.

"She would have been a lot safer identifying as a butch lesbian and living in a hostel for women."

I'm honestly not seeing the difference between how she presents as a transman and how a butch lesbian would present.

Apparently however

To what end?

Well I guess because she thought she was a man she was living in a male hostel. So very vulnerable given she was in fact biologically a woman. It really shows what a nonsense it all is. Imagine how vulnerable such a person would be in a male prison.
