For years I have too timid to post anything in this section but recently have bought 'the man who has it all" and it has completely opened my eyes and I notice things said directed at me/women in a completely new light. I hadn't realise dhow insidious the conditioning is.
This week my car was being fixed, the mechanic asked me to start the car up whilst he was poking around in the engine. He said 'make sure it isn't in gear'. I really wanted to tell him he wouldn't say that to a bloke, but wanted my car fixed. Last week I would have thought nothing of that comment.

There is a brilliant Facebook feed of the same name, which I love. Is the book by the same author?

I feel your pain re. the mechanic. I buying a drill recently and the sales assistant actually asked if it was for my husband!!

Yes it's by the same author. It's laugh outloud funny in't it? Although, really it's not funny at all, not if you're female.

Well yah he probably would have said that if he doesn't want to get run over.

I quite get he doesn't want to get run over, however, I doubt very much whether he would have said that to another man.

I suspect 'manwhohasitall' is a woman

Yeah, I think so too. Probably a journalist - a Victoria Coren or Viv Groskop.

I love the facebook version and the comments are hysterical

I once replied to one of Man's tweets and he retweeted it. Totally the highlight of my life year. It's so simple and so effective.

Well, it's really opened my eyes. Every ad directed at women i see differently, every patronising magazine article. It horrifies me how insidious this is, how patronising and how disempowering.

His / her Twitter feed is a hilarious bright light in the general sea of turgidness of social media

We used some of his/her stuff for our IWD event at work. Got lots of good feedback
