silly students protesting against Jenni Murray.

All I did was point out, when someone asked how our sex was being erased, that trans women offend with similar patterns to men, and concerns about recent trans women rapists, also violent trans women being housed in female prisons. I said that if these crimes are recorded as female it reduces the argument for separate safe spaces for women.

I also said about sports, and trans women being accepted onto female teams, and funnily enough being better than actual women, and advised people look up the Iran womens football team.

What did I do that was so wrong???

I'm there...
Very surprised to see BTL open on this! Perhaps it's so they can delete six million posts and make it look like the TERFS were out in force being all transphobic and literally killing people...?

BeyondUser24601 Fri 14-Apr-17 22:28:03

Try posting each point in a separate post and see which ones get deleted to find out which thing you said was past The Line smile

Dangermouse it's the Guardian...I've been deleted, put into pre-moderation and nearly kicked off there despite being a polite reasonable left wing feminist, they're illiberal dickheads! And yet I keep going back sad

Childrenofthestones Fri 14-Apr-17 22:38:51

Its the left eating their own.
I am amazed you have never been deleted before.
They delete me all the time for anything that leans slightly away from the Borg mentality there.

The Guardian is a joke and has been for years. This is a crying shame because I think there is a real space in the market for a serious left-leaning newspaper.

The amount of money The Guardian has spent in its journey of self-discovery up its own fundament is mind-boggling.

Ha, the remaining top comments are VERY gender critical, they can't delete them all! There is hope.

BeyondUser24601 Fri 14-Apr-17 23:23:06

"According to studies, 38% of trans people have experienced physical intimidation and threats"
Pfft. That's a lot less than the percentage of women who have experienced physical intimidation and threats.

I appreciate the concerns about the biological advantages trans women can have in sporting, over people assigned female status at birth, all relevant points. But implying that trans women are not 'actual women' - I can see why the Guardian have concern regarding that. Just answering what I can see, as you asked! It seems very acceptable generally still in society, so I can understand your questioning- to make these sort of comments against the trans community in general. A similar tone of comments towards other minority groups is more likely to be widely condoned. I hope and anticipate that attitudes generally towards people who identify themselves as trans will develop considerably over the years ahead.

Terfinator Sat 15-Apr-17 00:25:59

The comments seemed to mainly support Murray, not whomever wrote the article. smile

Floggingmolly Sat 15-Apr-17 00:27:55

Implying that trans woman are not actual women? What does that mean! They're not 'actual' women, they're trans women.

Floggingmolly Sat 15-Apr-17 00:28:11

Bet I get deleted too...

Destinysdaughter Sat 15-Apr-17 00:28:52

"trans women have lived their lives as women, just with different experiences of what it is to be a woman”.

Sorry but that's just bollocks!

Floggingmolly Sat 15-Apr-17 00:32:06

It doesn't even make any real sense, does it? It's like me saying I've lived my life as a pony, just with a (very!) different experience of being a pony.
The whole thing is starting to resemble George Orwell's Newspeak.

The Guardian published this cartoon depicting Theresa May being sodomised by Donald Trump.

I don't read it anymore and I think expecting anything other than misogony from the Guardian is the triumph of hope over experience.

They are recognised as 'actual women' legally, if they have been through the Gender Recognition procedures in the UK (basically uncomfortable in gender of birth, lived in acquired gender for two years- fairly basic criteria).

Floggingmolly Sat 15-Apr-17 00:46:19

So why are convicted rapists still recognised as actual women then? Surely they've violated the terms of "living in the acquired gender" since actual women would not be physically capable of this?
Is slapping on a bit of lipstick a la that Jennings person enough to mitigate that?

Vanillagirl00 Sat 15-Apr-17 00:52:08

Actual women by your own definition... 'actual women' legally is a different matter. So legally they would be physically capable... and not all transwomen are lovely, just like any other section in society unfortunately.
