Are Genital Preferences Transphobic. I think Magdalene Burns response to Dennis J Riley warrants a stand alone post on here. What do you think? #theshining:)

No of course they aren't, saying otherwise is rape culture.
I wish I was half as articulate as Magdalene Burns Smile

I'm almost starting to feel sorry for Riley.

The demographics of the video bloggers ripping Riley's videos apart range from Marxist, radical lesbian feminists, right wing libertarian trans women, blue- collar American men and just about every one in between.

Its such a great response. I watched it with a close male friend last night and peak transed him Grin

Thanks for posting things I'd not seen magdalen berns (or Riley) before so this was a great introduction to MD's logic

Great vid from Magdalen as always.

I was particularly interested in her curiosity as to where Everyday Feminism gets it funding from, as I have been pondering the speed at which the TRA movement has grown and think it certainly has had a lot of funding. I know that trans billionaire (name escapes me) has funded it heavily but I was also wondering re secret donations from right wingers in whose interest it is to undermine women. Robert Mercier, who has funded Trump would certainly be served with such an agenda.

Since the US changed the law about political funding declarations in 2010, there has been a great deal of underhand funding to destabilise liberal movements and promote neoliberal or libertarian goals. See also Koch brothers. I have no evidence for this of course, just musing.

But it is being funded from somewhere, that's for sure

Though we watched MB after giggling like loons at Everyday Feminism's "What it means to be multigender" so maybe I can't give her all the credit for his peak transing!

Yes that point struck home to me too.

Riley J Dennis. What the actual fuck? He says he's trans but he doesn't seem interested in passing. He looks entirely male. Long hair and eyeliner? Is that the best he can do? He could be going to a rugby club party, ffs. And of course he has a bi girlfriend so that he can claim to be a lesbian. He will take care not to become single so that he doesn't get challenged as to why, if genital preference is transphobic, he isn't dating a transwoman himself. Or a man, for that matter.

Does anyone, anywhere, believe that sexual orientation is transphobic? Are gay men expected to have sex with women? Isn't that what the "pray the gay away" nut jobs want? This shit is sick.

He talks complete piffle - offensive piffle at that - and the number of down votes on his videos suggest that most viewers agree. There must be money behind it because we surely aren't witnessing commercial success.

Ok. I'm going to be annoyingly pedantic but it's Magdalen Berns not Burns.

and no I'm not her

And yes she is brilliant

WTF is that everyday feminism article about? A load of gobbledegook!

Remember kids, calling yourself pangender is not ok because as it means "all genders" it theoretically includes culturally appropriated genders such as Native American two spirit people, and that is really problematic. And you should probably slap yourself.

George Soros has given 28 million dollars to set up transgender clinics. I can't remember if it's this article or not, but he wants to alter the LGBT acronym to be something more like 'Transgender Alliance'.

I agree, this ideology is well funded from sorts of areas.

That list!

"It’s necessary because it’s true to life. Many people experience more than one gender, and the fact that they do deserves recognition."

"Discovering – or sometimes creating – the best fitting term for you is truly an act of radical self love"

No shit.

This is nothing more than creating a minefield with the 100% guarantee that at some point, someone will inadvertently say the wrong thing and you will be able to claim it is offensive. And thereby get your oppression medal.

I long for the days when people thought it was a good thing to try and avoid being offended.

I think the T enjoys creating a fuss over the tiniest of slights because pointing out the smallest transgressions let's them feel like some kind of connoisseur of trans ideology. Funny they're all over pronouns and vag "preference" (orientation actually..) but not the male pimps and johns, or male partners who actually kill the most MtTs.

Video removed from youtube. Outrageous!!! So you can be openly homophobic and not be subject to criticism. This agenda is truly insidious.

Riley's explanation of "cissexism" is such a classic piece of mansplaining, it would be funny if it wasn't so depressing and outright dangerous.

My workplace is, rightly, very hot on diversity. I'm getting sick of saying to colleagues that whilst transphobia is of course vile, plain old sexism, assertion of male privilege and silencing women is vile too. I will not apologise for my views but I'm pissed off at having to laughingly say that I'm an unrepentant TERF. WTAF?!

Why on earth does that video violate any of their rules? When you consider the kinds of videos that they allow to stand.

I still can't quite believe that 'some women have penises' is taken seriously by anyone, anywhere

She is now doing videos on minds.com? I've never heard of it.

I cannot believe they have removed her video from YouTube. The amount of dross allowed on YouTube is staggering.

This gets more Orwellian and frightening by the day. What the fuck is going on??

dangermouseisace · 05/04/2017 09:44

that particular youtube video is still up…must be another one.

I find what she says is completely correct and I find Riley really offensive- why isn't he taken off for being homophobic and sexist? Are you only allowed to youtube and say things that might be offensive to someone else, if you make up your own ontology in which you are the victim and a historically marginalised group are oppressing you? The winner is whoever makes themselves out to be the most victimised/oppressed!

And that gender thing UGH I cannot believe anyone actually proof read that and agreed it made sense. Another example of framing the world so that a person can be perpetually a victim/offended.
