OK HERE I GO AGAIN! AMERICA IS. A. RAPE. CULTURE. WEATHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT WE ARE A RAPE CULTURE AND MOST PEOPLE DONT RELIZE IT. LADIE, HOW MANY TIMES IN YOUR LIVES HAVE YOU BEEN TOLD TO COVER YOUR BODY SO YOU WONT BE RAPED? OR YOUR SHORTS ARE TO SHORT? OR THAT YOUR NECKLINE PLUNGES TO DEEP? AND HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU BEEN TOLD NOT TO RAPE? WE ARE TEACHING OUR YOUTH THAT IS IS THE VICTIMS FAULT! THIS ISNT OK NOT TO MENTION THE "DRUNK FACTOR" ANYONE ELSE NOTICE HOW BEING DRUNK EXCUSES ANYTHING MEN DO BUT IS THE REASON ANYTHING BAD HAPPENS TO US.(E.G "HE ONLY HITS HER WHEN HE'S DRUNK; HES NOT A BAD GUY." AND " SHE WAS DRUNK WHAT'D YOU THINK WAS GONNA HAPPEN?" THIS IS A VERY REALLY AND VERY FUCKING SCARY YET MORE THAN HALF THE POPULATION IS UNAWARE! JOIN ME FELLOW FEMINISTS AND SPREAD THE WORD.

Well I'd agree with what you say, but typing in capitals makes it kind of hard to read. You have the right ideas though!

Also, this is not an American website, but based in the UK, were you aware? (As you say 'America is a rape culture .... WE are ...' I think you're assuming it's a US site).

Oliversmumsarmy · 30/03/2017 05:40

I must be from a different cultures because the answer to part 1 is never or NEVER

And the answer to part 2 is I don't drink so not too sure what you are on about.

Never had any problems and never heard anyone say anything about excusing a drunk

Ohmylurd · 30/03/2017 06:08

Can I just say there is no rape culture in America. I may not live there but I know there is no rape culture in the western world. It's a myth like the wage gap.

ChocChocPorridge · 30/03/2017 06:13

Oh great - are you a fairy godmother ohmylurd?

Can you also magic away small things like the bug list on my current project, add a right turn to the road outside so I don't have to go the wrong way and turn at the roundabout to get to town, the heap of washing in the bathroom, and my youngest's hatred of any unprocessed meat?

Thanks in advance

Ohmylurd · 30/03/2017 06:22

Not a fairy godmother because like 'rape culture' its a fictional thing if you understand that it means that it like so many things isn't real. In America and the western world rapist are punished if a man makes a rape joke they lose their job sure rapes happen but there isn't a rape culture it's not allowed or celebrated.

PhoenixJasmine · 30/03/2017 06:23

Well this is all a bit odd.

OP posting in capitals is shouting and even though I agree with your point of view (although, the problem is far from confined to America - neither the continents nor the USA) I don't like being shouted at so early in the morning.

ohmylurd oh, well, thank heavens for that. We can all stop worrying then can't we.

Hmm

Ohmylurd · 30/03/2017 06:36

Well there is nothing to worry about when it comes to womens rights which was what feminism was about so no need for it still in the western world. Oh and by the way i got the sarcasm intended just saying Smile

Oliversmumsarmy · 30/03/2017 06:48

Just had a Google and there's a site that says US is top for rape however it doesnt quite add up on some of its claims. It seems to say some 2500000 women report rape in Canada. Which is only 6% of those that have experienced rape. That would mean that 41 million Canadian women were actually raped but most didn't report it. Total population of Canada is about 35million

Ohmylurd · 30/03/2017 07:01

How do you know how many were unreported if they were unreported? If they told anyone that means guess what they reported it. So by that the amount of unreported rapes is unknown by the name UNREPORTED.

PoochSmooch · 30/03/2017 07:02

What an odd thread. not sure where to start with it Confused

Lessthanaballpark · 30/03/2017 07:16

How do you know how many were unreported if they were unreported? If they told anyone that means guess what they reported it.
Because they're reported to other health/social work/ education professionals but not to the police.

southall · 30/03/2017 07:17

There is no rape culture in the western countries.

Saying to women, cover up or don't drink too much, is not victim blaming it is reminding women to stay safe.

However in certain Islamic countries women get sent to jail for reporting rape:

A Norwegian woman has spoken out about the 16-month prison sentence she received in Dubai after reporting a rape incident to police.
Interior designer Marte Deborah Dalelv was on a business trip in Dubai when she says she was raped.
The 24-year-old reported the March attack to the police but found herself charged with having extramarital sex, drinking alcohol, and perjury.

^ This is what real victim blaming looks like.

Crashbangwhatausername · 30/03/2017 07:25

I'm not going to be sucked in because you can't argue with crazy here. I am going to assume that some posters just want to start a bun fight. I am slightly confused about the op though? I agree but why all the shouting, has something happened to spark you starting this thread?

southall · 30/03/2017 07:29

2,000 men 'sexually assaulted 1,200 women' at Cologne New Year's Eve party

www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/cologne-new-years-eve-mass-sex-attacks-leaked-document-a7130476.html

^ This is what a rape culture looks like, rampant organised sexual assaults, and it is was not men from Western cultures who did it.

Ohmylurd · 30/03/2017 07:30

If a rape victim tells someone then that's classed as a reported rape. If its told to people then guess what that means that it's reported. Thank you to the only person it seems to me who seems to agree that there is no rape culture in the western world.

Oliversmumsarmy · 30/03/2017 07:30

I was just quoting the Web site that I think the op was looking at and trying to show with a little closer inspection it was just sensationalist headlines

BasketOfDeplorables · 30/03/2017 07:43

When they say 'reported' it means as a crime to the police. Most women and girls I know who have been raped or sexually assaulted haven't gone to the police. They told their friends and tried to process it on their own. This is true for partner and stranger rape.

Ohmylurd · 30/03/2017 07:50

Reported means telling someone so its still a reported rape. It doesn't have a new specific meaning for them it means that someone was informed of the incident and then action should be taken. Unreported rapes are just that nobody tells. I see nobody talking about men getting sexually assault by women and getting mocked and bullied for that and the lower cases of reported rapes done by women.

There is no rape culture.

M0stlyBowlingHedgehog · 30/03/2017 08:04

This thread has it all - unhinged opening post, "first time poster" (sock-puppet?) respondent, and it's successfully drawn in a long-time poster who (from other threads) though genuine, is somewhere to the right of Nick Griffin.

Anyone got any good cake recipes?

AllMyBestFriendsAreMetalheads · 30/03/2017 08:06

Feminism is completed?

Awesome. Guess I'll just put my feet up then. In sensible shoes of course, otherwise I'm just asking for it.

AssassinatedBeauty · 30/03/2017 08:09

I saw a nice recipe for Pimms cake on a recent thread:

Crashbangwhatausername · 30/03/2017 08:17

That sounds delicious assassinate!
