"TRANSGENDER cricketer Catherine McGregor’s remarkable pitch for the Women’s Big Bash League yesterday received a boost with an easy win in her debut first grade match.
McGregor said she was overwhelmed by support yesterday after News Corp Australia revealed her ambition to crack elite cricket at the age of 60.
The former lieutenant colonel Malcolm McGregor’s campaign has the full backing of Australian cricket chiefs including selector Greg Chappell, who say that dependent on form, she is a genuine contender for state representation.
Her Canberra coach Matt McGann said McGregor, a strong batter and left spin bowler who gave up the game for 30 years until recently, “could easily handle” WBBL level competition."

He gave up the game for 30 years but then was 'easily' at professional women's level? Gee I wonder why.

It's ok though, the womenz don't mind, they are used to it already:

"I have been pleasantly surprised because there was always the fear that the haters out there would say I don’t deserve to play in the women’s competition because I was born male. It hasn’t happened though and I have had all sorts of messages.
“And the women on my team didn’t give a stuff, they have welcomed me with open arms and I can see a real future there.
“In fact there is already a trans woman on our team, so it’s a complete non-event in terms of controversy for them.”

This is becoming more commonplace than buying a Harley and growing a ponytail.
Don't worry men- women will let you act out your mid-life crisis in our elite sports... Live the dream of being the champ - coz you always knew it had to happen one day didn't you?
Just take the complete piss out of women while we welcome you with open arms.

In sporting terms 60 is really very old indeed.

The oldest golfer to win a tournament was 48, and that was in 1968.

Even the oldest snooker player was only 50.

There was a male cricketer who played for England aged 53. But he was born in the 19th century.

60 doesn't even get on the field with men.

I don't understand how they can possibly think it's fair. He hasn't played for 30 years, suffered from drug and alcohol abuse and just walked straight into a woman's team.

I wonder if he will still be welcomed when there are eight, nine, ten men on the team.

It's astonishing to me how people do not connect dots and this to its logical conclusion.

And I'm still waiting to hear of the cases of transman beating natal born men.

Even a 60 year old has-been male player is better than a woman- that's the delightful message here isnt it? When are women going to wake up?

The thing is though, in team sport it's an advantage to the women to have a male on your team because it means you'll win.

I don't see this changing any time soon.

I just can't understand the mentality of these males being happy and proud against women/girls knowing the majority are looking at them as deluded selfish cheats. How can they stand, head up smiling in the podium or even if not winning - taking the place of a woman or girl, pushing them further out.

Jillian Bearden in US cycling
Fallon Fox in MMA
Caroline Layt Rugby
Gabriella Ludwig college basketball
Now Lauren Hubbard weightlifting

Lauren Jeska - though Lauren's felliw competitors didn't seem to know.

So how many other males are competing that we don't know about?

Yes, but in direct proportion to the disadvantage on the opposing team.

A woman who has been pushed out of the winning team because a man has taken her place will be pissed off. But the entire opposing team are going to be more than pissed off if they are beaten by men presenting as women.

They should be asked if they think they have some kind of advantage over the other women in the sport - given their past history - and if that's a fair advantage?

They should also be asked why there aren't other 60 year old people playing professional cricket and why do they think they have this opportunity made available to them at their age?

I imagine his own team are very happy with his inclusion.

It's a competitive team sport. What bigger asset to the team could they have than a man joining it?

I hope the opposition takes note and signs up Shane Warne.

Thing is we wouldn't know how team mates really feel - will they feel safe enough to speak about what they really think?

TW Rugby player Caroline Layt has written of the anger her team mates felt at having to accept Layt in their team and that they actually physically assaulted Layt.

Do you think we will ever see the day that a heavyweight boxer identifies as a featherweight?
