I literally cannot even begin to imagine the level of cognitive dissonance the writer of this article had to employ.

Sorry if this is a repost.

And sorry for not really offering a point of view or starting point for discussion.... but.... just look...

I just saw this on twitter. It's unbelievable the lengths they go to not to misgender them. It didn't mention in the article you posted that he's a convicted rapist either.

How heinous a crime does he have to commit before they can refer to him as a man and not his preferred pro noun?

He's a man, dressed in clothes. What a ridiculous state of affairs the world has got itself into.

Fucking hell I didn't even notice that. Also notice how it doesn't mention the gender of his victims. That he violently attacked. With his penis.

He was sentenced to 14 years in prison for two rapes and a number of sexual assaults, described as "truly horrendous crimes".

I can't get that other link to work. The first didn't mention his criminal past. So are they worried about the safety of the public?

Report
Miffer · 06/03/2017 22:49

I read it with an explanation of context and my mind was too blown by the what-the-fuckishness of it all to process the smaller bullshit.

Yes, when you Google his real name there are news stories from today about Crimewatch who are going to cover this.

The story I posted does rather look like they are concerned for his safety.... which... bangs head against desk

Just found this - after I just posted link to Telegraph article - about appeal on Crimewatch tonight - on the other thread 'They're watching us'.

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/03/06/gender-sex-offender-bbc-crimewatch-appeal-attacker-could-living/

Even a man who is on the run after committing 2 rapes has to be referred to as 'she' in case someone gets offended.

MrsFogi · 06/03/2017 22:52

The world has gone mad - "The 48-year-old could possibly still be living as a man."
What does the transgender thought police say we should call man identifying as a woman identifying as a man should be called? Is it possibly the only time it is okay to refer to a "real" man?

Report
AssassinatedBeauty · 06/03/2017 22:52

filename I think the point is that he should be in prison serving the 14 year sentence.

Okay so...

Committed offences in 2001/2002
Charged in 2015 -As a man under his real name.
Article I linked in OP published in May 2016
Sentenced in November 2016

The original link is an old one from when the Individual first went missing. They were only sentenced (in their absence) late last year so presumably wasn't a convicted rapist at the time the 'museum's article was written.

Still the cognitive dissonance involved at the 'woman dressed as a man's headline is massive.

Report
MrsKCastle · 06/03/2017 22:58

No idea where 'museum's came from in my post.

Oh and Cornflake, thanks for the gif.. I need to go and watch some Firefly now!

Indeed but a swift Google search of the term "accused rapist missing" shows that a lack conviction doesn't usually preclude the press reporting that a person is accused of rape.

Oh for tuck sake I wish I had never played with the name change thing I dont understand it at all. I am Miffer

Report
Miffer · 06/03/2017 23:32

Funnily enough the name change is not unrelated to the topic. I tried originally as I wanted to post regarding my profession but was too scared to have any possible link to my real identity after airing such controversial views as "women don't have dicks". As it was I couldn't be arsed, good job really.

I'm sick of the fucking liberal feminist pronoun police! He is a man. I refuse to call MTT people 'she'. They do not have the right to my pronoun, they do not have to right to rename me 'cis'. They are not and never will be women.
I'm sick to death of being accused of misgendering men, when gender isn't even a thing. I'm sick of sex being called gender. I'm sick of my biological reality being called into question by men who hate women. And even more sick of women telling me I'm misgendering misogynistic men. BUT- more and more women ARE reaching peak trans- I really think we just have to hold our nerve and the tide will turn.

I'm near aycliffe and hadn't heard of this until now.

Thats a man. A violent rapist. I hope if they find him alive he does not get put in a female prison.

I'm more concerned about the safety and well being of his victims. It must be very stressful knowing he isn't locked up where he belongs.

A highly unpleasant character as the second article shows, but the original article was perfectly appropriate in its wording.

The trans community is protected by law and the article was compliant. Don't label all transitioning people by one bad apple. People are human above gender.

Don't label all transitioning people by one bad apple.

No one is doing that. People are saying TRA's are behaving almost indistinguishably from MRA's. In this specific case "women do it too!" (except they don't, and that's actually summed up neatly in this case)

People are human above gender.
