This pussy grabs back

I didn't want to de-rail the main women's march thread, so I thought I'd post this here. This ludicrous blog post came up on my feed this morning and I think it's useful as it shows so clearly, the level of narcissism and misogyny of the most vocal transactivists who hate women so much that they are angry when we even mention slang terms for female genitalia (and I am using female in the biological, scientific sense, not the new-fangled Alice in Wonderland "words mean whatever I they say I mean" sense).

transactivist telling a woman she's not allowed to respond to Trump with any reference to her own body and feelings

If I hadn't already reached peak trans several times in the last few years, this would have been the post that brought me to peak trans.

It should beggar belief that a person born with a penis and XY chromosomes, who has been raised and socialised as a boy and then a man, has the fucking cheek to transplain women that they are not allowed to respond to Trump with a reference to their own genitalia using the term Trump himself used. And yet it doesn't. We have grown used to the tiny, tiny tiny number of transactivists who tell us they are women, behaving exactly like the sex class of men do, when they arrogate to themselves the right to tell women what to talk about, how to talk, how to think. And when they tell the vast majority of women, that we are not allowed to talk about birth, menstruation, breastfeeding, abortion, birth, pregnancy, vulvas, vaginas and "pussies" because such matters bear no relevance to the really important members of the group "women".

FFS. How do women who call themselves feminism manage to be in such deep denial about this?

that should say "how do women who call themselves feminists", not "feminism"

Because they know that a small lunatic fringe isn't going to get traction?

if you start thinking that the extremists are the representative voice, then it is going to harm the community. The rights of trans people are indeed protected in UK, and there is no pecking order in the Equalities Act. And you rarely hear about those who just transition and live ordinary lives. And they matter, and their position is the one that should be supported.

They are the representative voice in terms of media and social media exposure. Point out some reasonable voices who respect women's rights. Apart from Miranda Yardley.

And as for the article, no as a feminist woman I'm not going to centre you or your issues, you silly twat. Give me one reason why I should.

"Because they know that a small lunatic fringe isn't going to get traction?"

But that small lunatic fringe has got traction. It's the one that the media is vocalising.

The BBC reported the women's march this morning, without once mentioning the word "women". It said "people" marched. It was a fucking woman's march!

And Maria Miller is the chair of the parliamentary Women and Equalities Committee, which will recommend to parliament how to legislate on women's rights and transgender rights. She's in favour of self-identification alone, as being the only thing necessary to be legally considered a man or a woman. You don't get much better traction than that.

Also, even if such views didn't get traction, that isn't actually the defining factor of whether you should oppose them or not. The Earth is Flat is a view that doesn't get much traction and is probably not going to ever get much traction, but that doesn't mean you should go along with it. It's wrong, so if you don't believe it, you shouldn't pretend the Earth is flat.

Agree the problem is that the lunatic fringe have got traction and are unbelievably influential in law making, funding allocation etc. It's like the Taliban being the face of British Muslims.

Auntiestella I feel I should say my post was not aimed at you, but the author of the posted article. I agree, as with most things, that the voices that garner most attention are usually not representative of the whole group and Tammy's analogy is apt. The difficulty is that if those on the fringes are representing views to wider media that most in the community don't agree with, their voices won't be heard unless they speak up.

Hmm

Somebody on my facebook shared this. The comments are worse. Women should always think about whether they are offending transwomen basically.

I need to stop reading these things because I just cannot compute and it infuriates me so much. I cannot cope with the fact the man in that article is telling women that they are making light of women's sexual assault with 'this pussy grabs back'.
Get back to me when you have grown up as a female.

Sorry that is not very articulate 😖😖😖 but the whole thing is far to much for me.

It's bollocks Basil.

Actual, literal bollocks.

I've not heard of a single incident where this was raised or even questioned by anyone on the 200+ marches. Men, women, transmen, transwomen were all marching along of one mind and with the objective of getting women's voices heard.

It's like all the trans people who are whining about that recent, really fair and balanced documentary on the BBC. The vast majority of them have openly said that they have never watched the bloody thing, so how come they get to say it was unbalanced?

I would be prepared to bet next week's wages on the fact that none of these people bleating were on a march, because if they had been, they'd have seen that their view wasn't shared by a single person anywhere.

If you don't take part in it, you don't get to slag it off. Especially when you have a history of writing similarly illogical pieces.

I spend most of the time, reading about the things SOME transactivists and their supporters say, yelling

STUPID FUCKING CUNTS

In my head

I am giving myself a head ache

Even if (BIG IF) someone believes that this 'feel like a woman' is absolutely true can they not see that a group that have been 'women' for a few decades at most have no fucking right to tell women that they have being doing it wrong for the last FEW THOUSAND YEARS

Its rude if nothing else

I read the article. It was very me centric, immature and wittering. They will have to grow up eventually, and it is going to be a shocker for the author.

What I don't get in this debate, is why, given the socialised gender stereotype of women, is usually second class, compromising, subordinate, putting others first, shutting up and getting on with it etc. Why isn't this the idea of femininity favoured by Transwomen? How come, they get to shout about their rights, their entitlement to what they want, they are allowed to hate feminists who argue for equal rights, but they perform an idea of femininity which wouldn't exist without nasty women like me shouting for it.

Even the self determined Cissy Crossdressers perform an idea of GirlyGirl womanhood which doesn't seem to involve much in the way of compromise. Or being paid less/childcare/cleaning the loo.

Just a thought.

Thank fuck I found this thread - I saw that bloody post on facebook today and wondered if it was just me that was going mad. What the hell is gender identification anyway? How can you have male genitalia and feel female - how the hell would you know what (if anything) it is to "feel female"? As if there is one "female feeling" anyway - we're not bloody clones FFS.

I don't know what that they are complaining about. Trump condones grabbing "pussy" so the woman the they are slating is talking about this "pussy" fights back. They have nothing to worry about, Trump grabs pussy not cock. It doesn't affect transgenders that still have their dick.

Personally, I hate the word pussy for my genitals, but I'm fine with USains women using it, as they are the one's who face attacks upon their hard won reproductive rights. Who am I to criticise?

However, this bilge from the link above is nonsense. Did the same person speak against slut shaming? Or does the person want to put this into the same category?

Let's be very clear about this. Women's rights in the USA are going to be drastically limited, limited to being just a pussy to grab. I'm not surprised there were so many protesting. I would hate to be a woman living in the USA right now.

Of course it's bonkers. Trump's attitude towards the vagina (objectifying and disregarding consent) exemplifies the root of women's oppression throughout history. It would be pretty hard to fight back against that if one is not allowed to reference said vagina.
