(861 Posts)Looks like an interesting watch, that does not just accept the trans children or they will kill themselves rhetoric. I just hope the BBC actually do show it and aren't bullied into not showing it.

The blurb:
Around the world there has been a huge increase in the number of children being referred to gender clinics - boys saying they want to be girls and vice versa. Increasingly, parents are encouraged to adopt a 'gender affirmative' approach - fully supporting their children's change of identity. But is this approach right?
In this challenging documentary, BBC Two's award-winning This World strand travels to Canada, where one of the world's leading experts in childhood gender dysphoria (the condition where children are unhappy with their biological sex) lost his job for challenging the new orthodoxy that children know best. Speaking on TV for the first time since his clinic was closed, Dr Kenneth Zucker believes he is a victim of the politicisation of transgender issues. The film presents evidence that most children with gender dysphoria eventually overcome the feelings without transitioning and questions the science behind the idea that a boy could somehow be born with a 'female brain' or vice versa. It also features 'Lou' - who was born female and had a double mastectomy as part of transitioning to a man. She now says it is a decision that 'haunts' her and feels that her gender dysphoria should have been treated as a mental health issue.
There was a trans-woman on here a while back who was happy to engage. She said that identifying as a woman allowed her to be more 'vibrant'.
Maybe if she acted vibrantly as a man she would get a different reaction than if she did so as a woman. Despite most people realising that she was in fact a man.
Claiming to be a woman legitimised her 'vibrancy'.
Interesting, and sensible, article in today's Sunday Times

Prawnofthepatriarchy
And let's face it, a large cohort of the Queer community are straight white men - they do not have the interests of lesbians or even gay men at heart and they are genderists (otherwise they have nothing to queer).
All of this stuff is what gets termed the "trans juggernaut" - the funding, the transing of kids, the hijacking of lesbians' and gay men's culture and politics, the redefinition of women, the online brainwashing plus harassment for resisters and desisters, the appropriation of intersexuality, homosexuality, girlhood and womanhood, the transing of male criminals and violence, the concealment of autogynephilia etc. It is foul, utterly foul, all of it.
Surely the wider public is going to wake up to the madness soon. I pray that the transing of gay children will be their downfall and that the LGB people will drop them like the homophobic hot brick they are.
I think we need a documentary which explains to the wider public that transgenderists are not old fashioned transsexuals. This is an entirely different beast, although what they are doing to children is transsexualism and am shocked to my core how many people well meaningly support it. The boys at guides thread on here made for chilling reading what all the transing of a gender dysphoric child by people who know neither the child nor the damage done by socially transing a child - which was exactly what they were participating in on that thread. Lots of posters were ignorantly socially transing a child and implying that anyone who didn't was a bigot and a hater.
Where and when will it all end?!
I thought the Rupert Everett stuff was really interesting in that article HamletsSister. I mean it sounds as if he was totally persistent until suddenly he wasn't. It seems so obvious that it is the act of going through puberty that is a massive factor in desisting for many GNC young people and that puberty blockers mean that they never get the chance to reach a developmental stage where they can understand themselves and the full implications of their decisions.
Transing of children is gay eugenics and I just hope the LGB community wake up and see the damage they are doing to themselves.
Beefah, I no longer believe in the LGB community.
Has anyone else seen the Daily Star's front page this morning, re rumours of Ian Huntley wanting to move to a women's prison?

I watched it yesterday. I thought Warner was heartbreaking. Doing cartwheels, having long hair, wearing dresses...none of that is exclusive to girls, no reason Warner couldn't do that as a boy. And when Warner mixed up the sex Warner wanted to be, it rang alarm bells for me.
And that therapist was creepy as f***. The music deep inside being precise? No, that is not what precise means.
All in all, I thought it was a very good documentary though I can see why TRAs object to it (enough rope to hang themselves and all that).
I have only recently joined MN becuase it is one of the few places that allows criticism of trans ideology. I was an avid Guardian reader but couldn't stomach the " brave and inspiring" celebratory trans articles that are published with alarming regularity.
I really hope that the BBC2 doc will make people closely examine and start to question the current trans orthodoxy. I'm sick of trans.
Empress
That Huntley thing seems like a load of shite to me. Their source is a fellow 'lag'.
I am sick of the whole trans issue, sick of talking about it, sick of reading it. I have reached peakpeak trans. Not because I think it doesn't matter but because the problems are so self evident and those on the 'other side' are so delusional it's beginning to feel like arguing with Christians over the reality of God..... you know what that's not true. Christians will claim faith, they wont claim science supports them.
Agree. The whole trans movement feels like a religion. Most religions like to recruit them young (and gullible).

Perfectly expressed.
Sent message on comment section at bbc re this programme saying how balanced it was, and how transgender lobby is all pervasive in society at the moment, also how I can't discuss this topic within my family without being called a bigot. (My teenage family is influenced by media not personal circs. Dh has no excuse except he wouldn't support me on principle #marriedtoanarse)
Surely the wider public is going to wake up to the madness soon. I pray that the transing of gay children will be their downfall and that the LGB people will drop them like the homophobic hot brick they are.
I suspect it'll take a considerable number of damaged young people regretting their chemical/surgical transitions, with a noticeable number of suicides, before the issues can be properly raised without being shouted down/drowned out. I am more than happy to be proved wrong.
All it needs is MSM to get on board. And I think the BBC programme which, as far as I know, is the first programme of its kind to show anything like an opposing view point, might be the start.
Certainly some right wing newspapers are taking a more cynical view of some transgender topics.
Once more transactivists have a higher visible profile, people are going to have questions.
Certainly, the comments below many articles are very questioning, if not downright damning.
It is such a relief to read this thread as I thought I was going out of my mind, thank you for helping put things in perspective with your thoughts and comments and the useful links. I am totally convinced that my son has been manipulated by some very clever people whose agenda I cannot even begin to fathom. Some things I have found particularly shocking is online GP's prescribing medication on the strength of an email from a self diagnosed person without any form of face to face consultation (see testimonial at bottom of home page gendergp.co.uk/; Samaritans only signposting to gender affirming helplines etc ad nauseum. The whole thing stinks of bit pharma funding life long "patients" - have already seen reference made to well known figures. How can we redress the balance and bring some sanity back to the ones affected?
Samaritans only signposting to gender affirming helplines etc ad nauseum
Just wanted to pick on this. If a Samaritan knows a caller is under 18 they will encourage them to call Childline (who admittedly do have some disturbing views on trans).
Mermaids is not on the signposting list.

Children should be protected from this.
I'm utterly amazed that it's now more or less promoted in Sex Ed in Schools and from a very young age.
So much for safeguarding and protecting them from being brain washed.
We are failing our children and it has to stop.
user's son isnt under 18 though
sorry about your son, user- my ds is that age and also dyspraxic, rather immature and to my mind vulnerable, your post made me very grateful that due to the dyspraxia he never got on with formal education and is doing an apprenticeship in a cafe rather than university. I wonder who your son's male role models are? Would he benefit from spending time wither with gay men or heterosexual but somewhat gnc men? so he sees he can be any kind of man he wants, doesn't matter how he wants to dress/what his interests are.
I watched this with my child and was pleased with the reaction.
My child started arguing when the person said 'we don't want psychiatric treatment we are fine thank you' it actually got my child really riled.
Although it was a bit rocky to begin with when I decided against blockers for my child they can now see why I was seemingly willing to go down that path before I looked into it and understands more now and gave me a huge hug when realising that I had been repeatedly told my child would kill themselves or hurt themselves.
Although I've never protected my child from the road that transitioning would take I have protected them from a lot of what has been said to me about the path I'm choosing. I think that my child is getting to the age that they need to be more aware, although I try and remain neutral and neither encourage or discourage this route.
All in all its been very interesting and informative and I'm glad the BBC were brave enough to show it, but also saddened that they have to be brave to show a neutral documentary for fear of the TAs.
I said in a thread a couple of days ago that my worry for the transgender children now is soon the statistic that 80% of transgender children not transitioning in adulthood will change completely due to blockers being provided early and the chances being that blockers usually lead to hormones and hormones will likely lead to surgery.
This is all going to get a lot worse before it gets better.
User my child is a lot younger than yours so I'm not sure if talking to me would help at all, feel free to PM me if you do fancy a chat though
How are the LGB community causing this? Many LGB people are gender critical. Lesbian women get a lot of shit from the trans lobby.
I don't think anyone here is saying that the LGB community are causing this. And I agree with you about the shit that lesbians are dealing with.
It is more that the transgenderists are hijacking the LGB movement and the work they have done and the sympathy that the wider public have for their struggle against discrimination. In other words the T is a parasite on the LGB. The T is appropriating lesbian and gay politics, culture, legitimacy, spaces and energy in order to promote a movement that is deeply homophobic and misogynistic.
I don't think the LGB community is doing anything wrong, and I'm sorry if that's how it came across, itsbetterthan. But some of the big organizations that benefit from LGB donations and support are aware that unless they come up with another big issue their income and influence will wane. How many well paid jobs in LGBT lobbying do you think there are, worldwide? The trans lobby gives them new energy and new supporters.
This is pretty twisted when you hear how TRAs are intruding into lesbian community and bullying lesbians into sex. Trans rights activism is homophobic. Their argument is that as transwomen are women then lesbians have no right to refuse sex with their girldicks (insert twee euphemism here).
The transing of children is gay erasure. All in all, the LGB section has very little in common with the T, and there have been petitions trying to get the T dropped. From my understanding the T are actively damaging the L and G, not least that when the scandal of child transition breaks a lot of people will assume the LGB are to blame.
One of the programmes producers has tweeted that the bbc are being bombarded with duplicate complaints, twitter.com/nigelsleftboot/status/820565826042548225
Yes and India Willoughby is hassling the producer on twitter
twitter.com/nigelsleftboot/status/820604336795435008
Lol, did you see India's tweet about how it's only feminists and the right wing supporting the programme? Clearly in India's head being a feminist means you don't count:
'@nigelsleftboot The only writer's / publications supporting it are either feminists or hard right. Why such an outcry if 'great prog'?'
