In the article it says that it was a Conservative party appointment, so it was done by a internal Conservative party ballot (presumably just the MPs). But... he was apparently unopposed. So no other Conservative MP stood for it.

What they actually want to do is get women to shut up, they are not pro-men they are anti-women.
