gah
I just don't have the patience
a friend of mine is going to a sub saharan african country this week to support a local organisation committed to ending fgm- are those girls 'identifying as women'? does it make any difference to them if they do/don't?
that's what feminism is about- the oppression of people based on their sex
'intersex folks are some of the most badass people I know'
really
there should be some way we can sue this website for misrepresenting feminism. Imagine if you were a teenaged girl just beginning to suspect not all was well in the world of women's rights, and you landed up there.

"5,000,000,000,000 reasons why no one should ever read Everyday Feminism Articles- that's considerably more than the amount of non men in the world".

I might read that one. Alternatively, "just Fuck off and get a sense of perspective instead of earnestly and pompously navel gazing and lecturing others about infinitely meaningless things with no sense of irony".

That's a good one too.

I haven't managed to get very far yet. Not sure I CBA.

Yes, when we talk about women, we do mean sex not 'gender'. Its the only definable meaning the word has. Roughly half the worlds population are women simply because men produce an equal number of X and Y gametes.

The more I think about it the more I laugh and realise that I have come across a very special snowflake with this one.

Is "cisnormative" the new way of saying "trans phobic?"

Whatever. These articles all seem to be about how women are wrong. Mistaken. Getting it aaaaalll mixed up. And how we need someone to explain to us women what being a woman means. I find it immensely patronising. And not a little sexist.

Menstruation is often held up as a rite of passage for women, and yet transgender women do not have this experience, numerous transgender men and non-binary people do

And perhaps you need to have a little think about the implications of that. Wanker.

How did I know that was going to be on everyday feminism.
The writer has really gone the whole hog and adopted that most masculine of mannerisms, the mansplain. Big round of applause.

And yes, of course were talking about sex. Fucksake. Hate EF.

And theres sk much talk about erasure, by people literally trying to erase women from the dictionary. Trying to erase the words that describe us.
Most libfeminism has centred the transcommunity to such an extent that born women are somewhere off the edge of the page.

Does Everyday Feminism ever actually write about, you know, feminism? All I ever see are transactivist articles that read like spoofs.

I got as far as 'cisnormative' and my eyes rolled so far back in my head I could see my skull. What a fucking moron... If He is now a 'guy' feminism isn't his bag anyway, so he should just fuck right off!

Everyday Feminism

'I went into a well-known pharmacy yesterday and nearly passed out. In a well-meaning gesture, the pharmacy have replaced the sign 'Female Hygiene' - yay, no more cisnormative biofem signs making me feel somehow less feminine because I don't happen to menstruate! But wait. The sign was replaced by a sign reading 'Hygiene Products'.

Woah.

Wait right there.

Like, woah.

Hit me with your cisprivilege again, why dontcha?

So what's my problem with this?

Why did I want to just sit down and cry when I went ahead and saw that sign?

Weellll, let me tell you.

  1. Ok, I don't know about you, but I am hygienic. I don't need a tampax, or the need to need a tampax. to confirm that I'm a pretty clean and tidy gal. The idea that only women who can menstruate can be hygienic is just a big fat smack in the tits to all of us women who happened to be randomly assigned as guys by dumb docs when we got ourselves born. So what, only ciswomen are hygienic? I don't think so (jeez, have you ever seen a period? BLUUURGH!)

  1. Ok, let's talk 'products'. Products is a word that just makes me go, OH TAKE YOUR GODDAM CISPRIVILEGE AND STICK IT IN YOUR BLEEDING FEMFANNY. 'Products'. Like we are all produced. (I'm gonna have to think about this one a bit more, but it sure as shit makes me mad as hell).

But gals - and I extend that to all the lovely non-judgmental cisgals, too - we gotta stand up about this. Every time one of these signs goes up, we are being told that we are somehow dirty. That we don't matter. That we aren't clean because we weren't assigned the right gender at birth.

And that hurts. That hurts all of us. And that, to me, is never what feminism should be about.

They really are a bunch of professionally offended.

I couldnt give a stuff about the average trials and tribulations of trans people. Most of it seems to be a load of made up guff.

I totally read that straight, seek! You nailed it.

So now, I'm starting to think that EF is actually a giant conspiracy by radfems to push the whole world into mutually assured peak trans Shock I must start reading it - it probably contains coded tips for the revolution, sisters.

I got lost about two paragraphs into that.

In real life my daughters citizenship class is currently learning about transgender people.

There is a big poster on the wall with FEMALE/NOT SURE/MALE on the wall and they were all invited to write their name down where they felt it should go. At ELEVEN. This follows on from watching Corey's story? The YouTube video about the MTF child.

Hmm a heads up next time ...i read a few paragraphs and thought "i recognise this shit...its everyday feminism" Grin

Dont have much to say about the article except that i have wiped more interesting and insightful things off my arse

I am glad that my children seem to have dodged this in their school, i am all for openess and there are a few children who seem to be transitioning but the school doesnt seem to be "pushing" the issue, just being very accepting

seek you should send that in to everyday bollocks...sorry feminism. You got that spot on

Is Everyday Feminism actually written by MRAs? Seems to "centre" everyone except actual women (the biological kind). I can't help feeling it's really poorly judged satire by a US college frat house or similar. I folded before the first numbered point. I could see 'cisnormative' in my peripheral vision and had an involuntary FFS! window close reaction.

Please submit that to EF. Please present as trans, write a regular piece and get more and more outlandish. Lift the lid. Please. That was spot on I had to AS your NN to check.
