I'm entirely serious. My money's on Caitlyn Jenner.

I think you might be right

Hopefully not in my lifetime.

I think it will be another generation before another woman gets as far as Hilary did.

Heard someone on the radio yesterday say that Kim Kardashian would be the first female president, and I thought nah, Caitlyn Jenner. So yep, I'm not betting against you!

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Women are being increasingly erased and replaced by Transwomen. They're like us, only better, you see.

Ah but grab but we will still be there to birth! No I think we are going end up being hand maids.

As Dervel said on the cultural appropriation thread: ..."there are loads of trans women praised and awarded women of the year awards lauded for courage etc. Where are all the trans men winning man of the year awards? What single inch of traditionally male space has been surrendered and given to trans men?

It really does seems that being issued a penis at birth really is a passport to go anywhere you want in life (even if that's to become a woman). Wheras all a vagina gets you is it's biologically assigned function and fuck all else."

This is the logical conclusion to that.

My money's on Donna Trump...

I think Trump should go with Daisy as new first name if he decides that he's a woman.

But, yeah, a hell of a lot more likely than an actual woman becoming president.

Yep.

Trump could definitely pass as a Daisy. Or maybe Dixie (ensuring a good chunk of votes there too)

But no, I won't take that bet. I reckon you're right. Find a bookies that will take it?

I don't think we'll see either for a long time, actually I was amazed that a black person got in. Russia is the same, powerful countries are run by men. Can you imagine "the most powerful person on the planet" being a woman ? It's interesting that where there are female leaders, those countries mostly project "soft" power, e.g. Germany is not really allowed much of a military, so it's fine for a woman to be in charge there.

The point is that we'll see a transwoman as US President first as everyone knows they're really male and males aren't shit leaders like women so male women are more acceptable.

The comment that Trump made during the campaign, when asked about transgender people and bathrooms (in the context of the North Carolina law), is doing the rounds on Facebook again. He said transgender people should use "whatever bathroom they want," and this is now being held up as an example of how he might not be all bad, he might have some progressive leanings.

As if we should be surprised and delighted that a predatory man who has no respect for women's boundaries, privacy or bodily autonomy, wouldn't give a shit about our safe spaces.

Sorry, that was a bit off topic. The transwoman / presidency combo made me think of it.

This is also OT but I am struck by the thought that despite years of equality campaigning, a generation taught at school that racism is bad etc, that women are equal etc, you can't say this, you can't say that.... it's all basically gotten no where ? What's gone wrong ? Why would we think that more of the same will work ? Teaching pepple that they ought to respect other people doesn't really seem to be working.

Report
MangoMoon · 11/11/2016 12:17

growapear, I think teaching people to respect others is working - things have definitely moved on in that respect & as younger generations come through it continues to work.

Telling people what they can't say, on the other hand doesn't work as it just creates animosity & backlash - it's actually counter productive in the long run.

Education & leading by example does/is/has made a difference.

I think you all need some perspective and a big cup of calm the fuck down. Do you all obsess over trans people 24 hours a day? You do you, and let everyone else get on with their stuff.

Report
DragonHorse · 11/11/2016 12:35

So on that basis, why are you on this thread? Shouldn't you be "doing you" and letting us get on with our stuff?

A transwoman as president would be a wonderful thing because transwomen are women.

Grow up, and yes, get some perspective.

yellow what's your definition of woman?

Report
Yellowrose87 · 11/11/2016 14:12

If you call yourself a woman, that's enough for me. Caring so much about what's between people's legs is kind of what misogynists do....
