I'm on my lunchbreak so haven't got time to articulate why this is making me all sorts of annoyed, but this article from The Pool articulates it nicely.

Suggesting maybe it will be nice for girls (young girls? or young women? or all women? I'm unclear...) to combat mean-ness on the internet by spreading niceness because that's what girls should do, it doesn't sit well with me. It feels a bit "be nice to the bullies", which does not work.

WHY can't Dove just go back to those awesome adverts that they had in the 90s, with the litmus paper and the "one-quarter moisturising cream"?

Yup, because the way to overthrow patriarchy is to smile at it...
