In your face "Lean in". I thought this might be the case, most women I know are well aware of the "reticent female" theory and will ask for a raise. This study shows that it's not women's behaviour that determines whether or not they get a pay rise.

Couple that with research showing women get vague and non-useful feedback
(hbr.org/2016/04/research-vague-feedback-is-holding-women-back) and that women's contributions are often attributed to "the team" (this being an example mobile.nytimes.com/2016/01/10/upshot/when-teamwork-doesnt-work-for-women.html) is it any surprise the gender pay gap is so stubborn?
