Porn on children's app

My DDs love Minecraft and love getting different girls skins. (This will make sense to anyone with children who play Minecraft). Anyway, today my little girl opened an app on my new phone that I had downloaded for her for free, to find a new skin/character. It had been advertised in the App Store as being for children.

I just happened to glance over as she opened it and was absolutely disgusted to see a pop-up advert showing a naked woman masturbating. It was extremely graphic and I cannot believe this shit came up on a children's app!!! AngryAngry

So I have complained to the makers of the app..I just wanted to warn all of you who may think children's free apps are safe that they are not.

I HATE porn and I hope all those sad, stupid people who defend it are happy that children are being exposed to it!

I understand that I should have parental controls - I do now!!! But I never would have believed people would be SICK enough to put porn ads on a children's app. Sad

Yep, my dd was playing a kids' game and just brought me it because it was a full frontal legs open naked woman!

That sounds like the same one, Hockey. I can't believe it!!! I had somehow thought even the twisted people who make/promote porn would lay off children's games and apps. It seems not.

Oh by the way, just want to add I am NOT addressing people on FWR when I said about people who defend porn, but people elsewhere on this site. I know the FWR regulars are the same voice of reason!!

I stopped letting DS play free apps when I had an android phone because of so many inappropriate adverts.

I've found things much better on Apple, but I'm sure that there would still be ways for it to get through - you just have to try every app yourself for a bit to see what kind of adverts you get.

I've reported inappropriate adverts on youtube plenty of times too (not generally porn, but I don't think that Call of Duty adverts are appropriate on disney collector videos either!)

The makers of the app can generally do things about which adverts are shown (but may not care), the app store can also do things I believe (but in my experience don't always classify adverts properly)

Disgusting but I'm assuming the app developers have allowed adverts based on keywords? So if it's an app where you get 'girl skin' that going to be a huge pull for a porn/hook up website if they just go by Adwords? I'm not an expert so I could be totally wrong but I'd delete that app for now and contact the app developers as maybe they can block ads targeted towards over 18's.

Chic it was android....interesting that it is better on Apple.

Things good point!! I bet the name girl skins WAS the flypaper....it is so utterly revolting and quite evil how these people operate. I told my DH who actually works in IT and he was disgusted.

Just when I think the human race can't stoop any lower....

I had porn adverts popping up on sites that I know are frequently used by children in the past.

Installed an adblocker. Best decision ever. I can only recommend it; it also protects you from the just annoying ads.

When there's money to be made, the big companies have no ethics whatsoever, you need to make sure there are no ads at all or there will be something inappropriate - perhaps not outright porn, but you can always count on sexism.

Not sure how this works with phones, but as there's demand for adblockers, I am sure they are being developed.

Tell Apple / Google. They will remove it from the App Store / Google Play.
I know that's only treating the symptom and not the cause, but it will help, if only a little, in combating this stuff.
