Just come to the realisation that of the 4 main political leaders in Scotland, 3 are female and two are gay ( labour and tory) whoop so proud to be Scottish.
It wouldn;t have been so long ago that we would have been burned at the stake.

Equally interesting is that we don't generally give it a second thought, I wonder why that is? Imagining the same scenario in the House of Commons seems incredibly far fetched.

TBH it didn't cross my mind either until I was listening to a chat show on radio yesterday when someone mentioned this and also made the comment that these women would probably have been stoned by the church or publicly flogged in the past for being so audacious.

Carzycatdad, I assume you have a theory. What is it? Is it anything to do with London, the Westminster bubble, the Oxbridge PPE elite that make up the Commons etc etc?

What scenario? Female leader ? Openly gay? Sorry that does not seem incredibly far fetched.

The comments about being burned at the stake etc are ridiculous over egging.

Grimarse, yes all of that, old boy Etonians and such. Confused

Lass, I don't see how the possibility of having 75% of Westminster party leaders being women and 50% gay is a situation that could be considered likely. I'd say there is a way to go yet.
