The report reads like some sort of shitty carry on film.
Cheryl was held captive in a room while a superior officer tried to, or did, rape her. "Romp"? FFSangry

That is disgusting. Shame on the Sun, unfortunately they have none.

StrumpersPlunkett Fri 12-Feb-16 15:17:22

Ffs that is hideous

WomanWithAltitude Fri 12-Feb-16 15:19:22

And people claim rape culture isn't real.

CultureSucksDownWords Fri 12-Feb-16 15:22:46

I am not surprised, but still disappointed by this kind of reporting in the Sun. It's hideous.

I don't think we'll ever know exactly what happened to Cheryl James, sadly.

TheCrowFromBelow Fri 12-Feb-16 15:23:09

That's appalling reporting!completely minimising.

BeyondBootcampsAgain Fri 12-Feb-16 16:08:45

"Have his way" hmm honestly, its beyond words.

BeyondBootcampsAgain Fri 12-Feb-16 16:10:00

OT... Why is suicide in quotation marks? I'd understand if it had ju st happened, but surely cause of death was ruled ages ago?

scallopsrgreat Fri 12-Feb-16 16:31:14

I think the coroner's verdict was open wasn't it? That's why it's been reopened because it may not have been suicide but murder/unlawful killing, I think (I haven't been following it closely as I've been away)

grimbletart Fri 12-Feb-16 16:50:24

What do you expect from a paper that has page 3?

CocktailQueen Fri 12-Feb-16 16:52:30

Trying to 'have his way with her'?? Absolutely disgusting reporting. But then, what do you expect from the Sun?

RustyParker Fri 12-Feb-16 17:48:21

It seems to have become quite common to use all sorts of euphemisms to avoid saying what happened, namely "rape". But this is a whole new level of minimisation, like some Benny Hill-esque scene.

Gothgirl78 Fri 12-Feb-16 19:36:37

How horrible. Perhaps a complaint about the article may be in order. Ideally feel for her family.

Gothgirl78 Fri 12-Feb-16 19:43:42

I meant I really feel for the family.

SheldonsSpotOnTheCouch Sat 13-Feb-16 10:55:17

That's abhorrent. Even for The Sun. I agree that a complaint is in order. How dare they refer to a rape as a romp? Reminds me of that BNPer who likened rape to force-feeding a woman chocolate.

DrSeussRevived Mon 15-Feb-16 12:37:40

"Romp" is horrible.

"Have his way with her" is what the witness (her friend) said in evidence. The Mirror was much
better :
