Absolutely astounding if true. A six year jail term.

A ridiculous article. Such a dearth of detail. The alleged-writer and alleged-editor just put this sensationalist click-bait out there and what are we meant to do with it?

Did he work? Did she? Do they have children? (Probably not, or we'd hear about her neglecting them). Does he have a younger model lined up (I'm not going to bother to ask if she's cheating on him - if she were, we'd have heard about it).

All that said, I stull can't wrap my head around getting jail time for not doing housework.

I can't find the original La Repubblica story it's supposed to be based on. However reading the story in Italian it would seem the basis for a criminal charge appears to be a form of verbal domestic abuse.

He can whine about the housework and cooking all he likes, but it looks like the claim of constant verbal abuse is what the denuncia stands upon.

I've lived here for 20 years, if women got banged up for being crap at housework and cooking I'd have starred on "banged up abroad" by now.

Is Italy the least mysoginistic place on the planet ? Nah. Not by a long chalk. But are those of us here at risk of imprisonment if we don't Stepford wife to our husband's prefered standards ? Nope.

I'll look out for sources with more detail, but I do rather expect this to be something of a storm in a teacup with the crux of the matter being rather different to the strap line.

This could not be real. I cant see it getitng very far in any court! Maybe Africa or one of those Islamic States were they do horrific things to their women.

I read the story in 'il fatto quotidiano' (linked to in the article) and the only vaguely sensible sentence talked about 'how she threw the food he bought in the bin' - I'm guessing the real crime being tried is probably emotional abuse.

Most of the comments underneath thought the story was ridiculous too.
