I'm raging a bit

I overheard at work afew days ago, a manager telling our team leader about this really good looking girl that he had recruits. He had, he boasted, told her at interview if she is not interested in football and is PC, then this is not the team for her

I didn't say anything, as I was ear-wigging

So today, said good-looking girl is introduced to TL, who reiterates that the team is not PC and if she feels offended at anytime, well then she will just need to toughen up

Angry

So, its no good trying to reason with these fucking morons. I need to demonstrate how fucking fuck fucking-witted they are

So give me some jokes, for our next team meeting...

Do you have an HR department. Because if you have personally heard a manager saying that a new woman needs to put up with sexist jokes etc then they might appreciate a heads-up.

Not that I would necessarily go down this route myself but really it should be the way it works.

Your company sounds awful BTW most places even if men are thinking this they know they aren't supposed to say it out loud!

I can't think of any jokes either sorry.

It is awful. Id happily challenge the TL over it. But as you said, he and they know full well that this isn't ok

I need to think of a clever long game

Actually, I might just call a meeting with him. Tell him o overheard his conversations; that I am not ok with racist or sexist 'jokes', so clearly its not the team for me. Can he find me a new, less sexist /racist team please

Sinking to their level isn't the answer, sadly.

Well, when my very conservative and blantly sexist uncle (who also happens to be rather overweight) got married, my mother remarked quietly that she felt sorry for his wife as it would be like having a wardrobe fall on her with the key sticking out. My dad added the classic "like trying to play snooker with a rope".

Not sure if you could work those in somehow but every little helps Wink

Oops, I see we're advocating taking the high ground. I'll just store my offensive jokes up for another occasion Blush.

The correct approach is probably the high ground. But speaking as middle class, balding white man, I'd get more joy out of knowing you have deployed the above against these twats

A middle-aged middle-class, balding white man goes into a fish'n'chip shop.
He says to the woman serving, 'fish and chips twice please'
Woman says 'heard you the first time'.

A middle class middle aged balding man makes a bunch of sexist jokes.

No one laughs.

He is asked to leave.

Everyone laughs.

The end.

Why do women get thrush? So they can get used to an irritating cunt before they marry one.

I really wouldn't recommend tit for tat un pc jokes. If you have not complained all you do is add to a bullying culture or worse he takes offence and complains about you.

How many men does it take to tile a bathroom?

Depends how thinly you slice them.

I think in your position I'd take your new colleague aside and say you overheard what was said to her, and you're happy to be a listening ear if anything she experiences makes her feel uncomfortable.

if you want to take the low ground just rework all the blonde/irish jokes.

"A middle-aged middle-class, balding white man goes into a fish'n'chip shop.
He says to the woman serving, 'fish and chips twice please'
Woman says 'heard you the first time'."

This is taking the mick out of the woman, as she is not understanding his order (isn't it?)

I find telling them you can't tell them apart is quite fun. I do actually find it quite hard to tell middle-aged white blokes in suits apart...

I find just ignoring people who do this quite useful, as long as everyone does it. He's obviously used to guffaws of agreeing laughter when he makes that type of comment, so, if he's greeted with silence????
