Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Gender stereotypes in the different professions - same worldwide?

Recently I learnt that around half of the number of women working are concentrated in 10 professions.

In France, that's Administration, Education, Sales for example.

Does anyone know of countries where the stereotypes are reversed or different?

I guess that's in developed countries only though?

Out of interest, do you know how many professions were identified in total? 10 out of 15 is very different from 10 out of 100.

I don't know about all industries, but I have read stats that figures for women in IT tend to be better in developing countries, partly because it's clean work, not like agriculture or cleaning which are more traditional roles open to women there.

I met a woman from India, who was a bit surprised we needed discussions about how to increase female participation in STEM careers, because she, like most of the girls she'd been at school with, had been given a choice by her parents - when she went to uni, she could do medicine or engineering.

So I'm fairly convinced that the issues are primarily cultural, rather than anything else, and I'd therefore expect similar reports about working women from countries sharing a similar culture.
