Sorry to hit and run but am at work and will be in trouble if I get caught on the internet!

However I have just seen this article (yes Daily Mail but only chose this one because it's got the comment in full):

link

and wanted to share it. This Nick Conrad is not some old bloke living in the dark ages but a 29 year old. Is this really representative of how men still think?

Anyway, I've got to go so will come back this evening.

I'm so pissed off that I don't know what to say.

AMumInScotland Wed 19-Nov-14 13:22:58

It's insulting to men as well as women. As soon as they are aroused and have a chance of any kind of sexual activity, they are totally incapable of paying any attention to limits, and can't stop themselves from raping unwilling women. Nope, that's not the men I know.

It's just the old Madonna and whore - he thinks women should be made to choose between zero sexual activity, and being game for absolutely anything because nobody could possibly expect men to behave decently when they've got a hard-on.

Gee thanks. Of course it's all our fault for thinking you are capable of being civilised...

Sorry, I don't need to ask this question, I know it isn't. Not the men I know anyway.

KateeGee Wed 19-Nov-14 13:31:03

The thing is she didn't even meet Ched Evans did she? So even if she did chose to have sex with one man, any other man is free to have sex with her because he is sexually charged? What the fuck?

HaroldsBishop Wed 19-Nov-14 13:57:22

What a throbbing bellend that bloke is.

At least he seems to be being roundly criticised for it.

grimbletart Wed 19-Nov-14 14:03:03

And this gem has a daughter…..some blokes should not reproduce.

BobbyDarin Wed 19-Nov-14 14:20:02

Yes, "don't get your knickers off and get into bed with a man", then act all surprised when he rings up his mates to get them round.

Bloody Hell, I've just read his full comments and they're even worse than I thought. This is what he says

I think women need to be more aware of a man’s sexual desire that when you’re in that position that you are about to engage in sexual activity there’s a huge amount of energy in the male body, there’s a huge amount of will and intent and it’s very difficult for many men to say no when they are whipped up into a bit of a storm.
‘And it’s the old adage about if you yank a dog’s tail don’t be surprised when it bites you. Or you can’t keep snakes in the garden and think they’ll only bite your neighbours. ‘One wonders if women need to be a little bit more mindful of that and the feminists who have hijacked... Hijacked maybe a bit of a strong word...jump on these arguments and appear to be quite anti-men.
‘They neglect that very important part of the argument even though it’s a reduced part of the argument and the onus has to be on the men and the men must be condemned if a woman says no and they persist then that’s absolutely abhorrent.
‘But they then (feminists) in their fury against men and masculinity they actually forget to stop and say if you tease, if you jump into bed naked with a man if you give him all the signals and then he acts upon them then you are partially responsible and of course it is a grey area and there will be cases where you wanted to go certain distance and not go any further and the man is absolutely wrong but if you are... how do I say this?
‘I’ve got to be so careful of what I say because I don’t want this to be explosive, I’m trying, I’m just trying to talk around it...
‘But what I’m trying to say is that women also have to understand that when a man’s given certain signals he’ll wish to act upon them and if you don’t wish to give out the wrong signals it’s best probably to keep your knickers on and not get into bed with him.

Callani Wed 19-Nov-14 14:29:40

So this is a man who thinks that men, as a gender, have no more self control than an abused dog or a garden full of snakes.

And people say that it's feminists that hate men?

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter Wed 19-Nov-14 14:37:03

I love the way he thought he'd worded that load of shit as being: 'careful of what I say'. I'd hate to see him clumsily and ignorantly bulldoze through it. What an arse.

Nope Nick, feminists aren't 'anti-men' just anti-rapists and anti-rape-apologists. Surprisingly enough.

BBC Complaints Form Trying to fill this in but I can't find the words to phrase my anger. At his comments, at the lame apology from the BBC ("ill judged"?!), and at his self-congratulatory "we had a good discussion about this!". This guy is the same age as me and I am so dismayed that these attitudes are not dying out.

YonicScrewdriver Wed 19-Nov-14 14:52:10

The bbc mentioned they hadn't had any formal complaints, if anyone has time...

YonicScrewdriver Wed 19-Nov-14 14:53:09

X post!

I gather this young man has never had his mother walk in on him when he's having a wank. If he had, this idea of men not being able to stop when aroused would have withered along with his erection. hmm

IrianofWay Wed 19-Nov-14 15:01:08

"I gather this young man has never had his mother walk in on him when he's having a wank. If he had, this idea of men not being able to stop when aroused would have withered along with his erection"

Yep. Or an adult man having sex with his partner when their child walks in on them. Funny how the urge fades away then.

YonicScrewdriver Wed 19-Nov-14 15:02:53

Or that he's never, say, put weight on his partner's hair by accident during sex but been unable to stop and adjust his position to stop hurting her...

KateeGee Wed 19-Nov-14 15:05:05

His mother died when he was 4 or 5, apparently.

Uptheairymountain Wed 19-Nov-14 15:33:08

She didn't go back to a hotel room with the convicted rapist Ched Evans. She went back with his friend and consented to sex with him, as is her right. Good to know that if a woman willingly has sex with a man, she automatically becomes fair game for his mates to come and stick their cocks into her as well hmm. What an absolute knobhead. He needs to be sacked.

I just love the conflict between "‘I think women need to be more aware of a man’s sexual desire.. it’s very difficult for many men to say no when they are whipped up into a bit of a storm." and "‘ the feminists ...jump on these arguments and appear to be quite anti-men."

Oh yes, women have absolutely no reason to be anti men who're incapable of not preying on women.

QueenoftheRant Wed 19-Nov-14 16:07:51

Ooh another one (reading on) "‘But they then (feminists) in their fury against men and masculinity". to me it reads like women are there to be fucked, how dare you complain about it.

PuffinsAreFicticious Wed 19-Nov-14 16:57:52

Why do these people always say that feminists hate men when it's completely obvious that the people who actually hate men are them?

Bakeoffcakes Wed 19-Nov-14 17:03:48

I wonder of he's trying to justify past behaviour. Why else would you say something so stupid?

LeBearPolar Wed 19-Nov-14 17:21:37

Just came on to see if there was a thread about this. Unbelievable that this myth is still being peddled in the 21st century. Just unbelievable.
