Why the fucking fuck is that rapist Ched Evans being released anyway?

I thought that in order to get parole, the minimum you had to do was admit that you are actually guilty of the crime for which you've been imprisoned?

But Evans the rapist hasn't admitted that he's a rapist. He keeps saying he's innocent.

So why is he being released?

Is this normal now?

Do all prisoners automatically get early release for good behaviour even if they keep saying they didn't actually do the crime, therefore proving that the one thing that used to be a necessity for early release - remorse - is definitely missing?

Good question

I was sickened to hear his girlfriend on the news supporting him.

There was a man on Five Live yesterday talking about him, about whether or not he should return to his club. I don't know who the man was but his answer to everything seemed to be 'well, yes, but he says he didn't do it, so it's not really fair to say he is a rapist'. Or something along those lines.

If its not fair to say someone is a rapist when they have been convicted, and when they have been refused the right to appeal that conviction, when exactly is it ok to say someone is a rapist? It was sickening.

And as for his girlfriend, well, words fail me.

Very good question.

He even has a website dedicated to his innocence: www.chedevans.com/

Poor girl. Sad

There was a man on radio 2 today who said that he had been a very naughty boy. A VERY NAUGHTY BOY. I am incensed that anyone can think that is an adequate way of describing a man who raped a 19 year old woman.

His fans, family and sorry girlfriend and beneath contempt for they way they have hounded his victim into hiding. He has not told them to stop. He has tried to appeal repeatedly and been turned down. And still they continue.

Yes, if he has shown no remorse, he should not have been released. He certainly shouldn't be being signed for a lucrative bloody football contract.

Firstly as someone who was raped in my teens I totally understand the effects of this.
This case though was very strange with 2/3 men being found innocent, with 2 being found as consensual - and the footballer being found guilty. It is this reason that he will try to get the verdict overturned.
Is it just me that thinks they would all be guilty or all be innocent? I just don't get how the girl can't remember any of it and the jury reached this verdict, as in how did they find only one guilty with the same evidence? ... Not accusing the girl here in any way - but it wouldn't surprise me if on appeal he got it overturned.
To clarify I am kit in support of Evans here but think this will be in the public eye a lot longer. In the black and white of it (rightly or wrongly) he has served his time and is entitled like all people to go in with his life and job - his just happens to be a very well paid one in the public eye.
His girlfriend is young and naive. As are most WAGS when they start off!

I was going to say he's done his sentence but yes, you're right, no remorse, no admission.
He should stay there.

If he doesn't admit he's guilty, he has not repaid his debt to society, I think.

Everyone has a right to maintain their innocence. You cannot be held in prison longer than your sentence for maintaining your innocence. Life sentence prisoners struggle to get parole if they are maintaining innocence because they need to demonstrate rehabilitation, but it doesn't affect a fixed term sentence.

I do not know the truth of this case but miscarriages of justice do happen.

CaptChaos · 14/08/2014 19:22

He has only served half of his sentence. He should therefore serve the whole thing.

Hup... I believe the man who was acquitted was acquitted because he merely watched his friend and teammate rape a 19 year old who was too drunk to consent.

Hup · 14/08/2014 19:35

Capt both men admitted to having consensual sex with the girl, she did not report the rape herself (just read the case info)

Regardless of whether he should be released morally, legally if he fits the criteria, he should be. Maybe the law should be changed.

If a club wants him then he should be allowed to continue his football career.

Hup... no idea then, but something must have convinced the jury that one was innocent and one guilty. It's not for us to speculate.

Mengog... why?

There ya go... Thanks Just clears it up.... funny.... it's not on the website. Just lots of stuff slagging off the jury, the victim and everyone apart from the convicted rapist.

It;s so depressing.

Q: Should a convicted rapist be presented as a role model for young men and boys?
A: Yes, of course!

Q: If a man has been convicted of rape, and refused an appeal, does that mean he is guilty?
A: Of course not! Don't be so silly.

What a great country this is.

How long has hr actually beem in prison? Seems about six months since he went in.
plus does anyone know if you have to show remorse to be released early? Clearly not.
pathetic.

According to his mum's website, he should only be eligible for parole in October.

Report

from gov.uk

"If the prisoner has a fixed term (determinate) sentence
A prisoner serving a determinate sentence is normally released automatically halfway through their sentence.

If their sentence is 12 months or more, they will be released on probation.

A Parole Board is not involved."

So why the actual fuck do they not just say what the actual time is? why say 4 years for eg when it's going to be 2? doesnt that mean it's 2?

what is the intention of pretending it will be twice as long as it is? so it looks better in the press but doesn't overcrowd the prisons so much?

baffled.

Well it's his profession. If someone will have him, be it in the UK or abroad, then I don't see a problem. Football is just another job. If he played semi-pro for £100 a week would anyone care.
