I'm getting more and more interested in feminism. Sounds silly as I am a woman and and shouldn't I be anyway?!
I have two children - one boy and one girl and am mindful of the pink and blue trap for example. Dd is already bring labeled as a typical girl - she says it is her favourite colour (she's 2!). But I want to teach her that being a girl doesn't mean she will be a pink princess. Similar for my son - he's already coming out with the whole girls can't so x - picked up from his peers and I'm sure it will get worse.
So can anyone point me in the direction of books to read?
I believe in equality, I dont believe that we should treat boys and girls the same ie hormones etc mean that my children will have different needs at different times but that doesn't mean that one gender is better/stronger than the other. I don't believe in traditional roles e.g. mum stays at home, dad works but believe that parents should be there for their children full stop.
Thanks!
