The bride was given away by her "father".
But then, I suppose 6 year olds are too young to understand about being given away, wearing white etc.

Also, will they be staging weddings from non-Christian cultures as well?

Miss, so why am I being given away?
By my Dad?

Why am I wearing white?

Why does the Father of the Bride, the Best man and the Groom get to do the speeches?

Miss, miss?

School plays have always wound me up - don't even get me started on the Christian values (we are all atheists - even the kids).

We have always been told that they can sit out of anything they are uncomfortable with - but how is that right? why not just keep it secular.

in the same way - plays, songs etc should be entirely non-gender. they don't need their heads filling with viewpoints which do them no favours.

I think we should always kick up a fuss. How is it acceptable?

But I have kept quiet about things in the past and am not proud of it. These days I'm more likely to just wade in with both feet, thinking "what can go wrong". Grin
