AIBU not to speak up what I feel about objectification and misogyny because I'm fat?

I have many opinions on Feminism and objectification ect, but am too afraid to be judged as having sour grapes as I'm overweight.SadThat stupid blurredlines song absolutely enrages me, but I keep my trap shut as I'd bet everyone would be thinking, she's just envious of the naked models' bodies.Any advice, please?

I think principles come in all shapes and sizes. Go for it.

I'm fat and middle-aged. I'm happy to speak up on behalf of other women, and also my teenage DD who has to grow up in a culture of objectification.

I know exactly what ou mean
ive lost a lot of weight, and feel my opinions (in general, as well as about feminism) are more valid somehow. Which is ridiculous and ironic.

I'm fat too, but I'm getting more vocal about my objections to all sorts of things. I'm far happier now I voice my objections. Some people may think I'm jealous, but I'm not maybe a little. Some people think I'm insecure because I have a problem with strip clubs and lapdancing clubs, although they understand a bit better now I have explained exactly what the problem is rather than just saying I have a problem with it.

Interesting.....if you buy into the Western/Barbie doll/Playboy ideals of what a woman is then you are allowed an opinion but if you are unwilling or unable to conform to this male dominated stereotype then you ought to keep your thoughts to yourself??! No! Intelligent women owe it to themselves and our daughters to speak up or risk raising a new generation of young people who are made to feel less than they are by trying to fit in with this narrow minded ideal! I'm quite sure that you are more than able to speak up in a clear and considered manner and you certainly have the right!

Go for it. If anyone judges you that way, point out that's because they are viewing you through the distorting lens of objectification when they should be listening to your words.

Or something like that.

Don't worry about the eyelashes and hairy parts of your body, but you should try to be slim for your health not for how you are perceived or perceive yourself.
But on this your appearance is irrelevant to your opinions

Exactly!! I am speaking up about the Barbification of society, while worrying that my thighs wobble and that people will be focussing on that and feeling it negates my opinions :(

I tend to think that people only spit out that 'jealous' remark when you've got them on the ropes and if they're gonna use it they'll say it whether they've got something to hang it on (fat, hairy, etc) or not.

Sing our your views!

Stealth, be happy with yourself or get down the gym. Retrain your mind set or retrain your body

You'll have to rebrand yourself as StealthArcticFox!

OP, also remember if people come out with that sort of crap when you're expressing your opinions is that ad hominem attacks tend to happen when the other person has lost the argument. Arm yourself with some good comebacks!

I know what you mean OP. Unfortunately I think it comes up whatever size, shape, colour etc you are. I quite often feel it's pointless to.say what I think as it will get dismissed as "silly women speak". There'svalways a comeback even if it is the stupid and vile "you just need a good shag".

I?m young (mid-twenties),quite slim (now I?ve lost 3 stone!) as well as being blonde and chesty and I have still been called jealous, naive, middle aged and under sexed! Hmm

It?s just another way for people to dismiss what they are hearing.
Or look at it this way, another opportunity to show their ignorance - works even better than an Twat Label

Well done on the weight loss Stealth
