How to be a good and happy housewife article

'The good housewife needs to maintain a good appearance and do not repeat the mistakes of some women who after the marriage lose their attraction.'

PixieHot Sat 05-Jan-13 21:49:35

And I didn't even quote the worst bit...

PixieHot Sat 05-Jan-13 21:50:42

Fly grin, I hope you're fully recovered now.

UptoapointLordCopper Sat 05-Jan-13 21:52:05

'You can also have hobbies' - that's fucking generous.

Confused though - the housewife spends "all [her] day cleaning and tidying up" yet is also learning to cook, shag and plan birthdays. How is she doing this? Does she do 12 hours of cleaning and 12 hours of shagging-cooking-planning? I think we should be told!

PaleHousewifeOfCumbriaCounty Sat 05-Jan-13 21:57:24

I suppose one could multitask?!

ZZZenAgain Sat 05-Jan-13 21:58:01

perhaps she asks her dh to write her a schedule

WiseKneeHair Sat 05-Jan-13 21:59:48

I think I've just time travelled back to the 1950's. shock

LynetteScavo Sat 05-Jan-13 22:02:24

so, basically you have to be a good cook, and a good shag.

PaleHousewifeOfCumbriaCounty Sat 05-Jan-13 22:04:24

And not physically repulsive, i think.

I thought this was going to be 1950s article but it was written last year?? Is it a wind up?

ZZZenAgain Sat 05-Jan-13 22:12:41

that's it.
Good in the kitchen, good in bed and good to look upon.

And you can also have hobbies if you like.

Sunnywithshowers Sat 05-Jan-13 22:19:14

Maybe we should email the company and remind them that a) we don't live in the 1950's and b) the article is offensive?

tribpot Sat 05-Jan-13 22:34:03

I'll have to ask my DH to find out if I'm allowed to send emails.

grimbletart Sat 05-Jan-13 22:39:23

It has to be a wind-up.

julz09 Sat 05-Jan-13 22:42:18

Am i right in thinking it was man that wrote this? Looks like a man in the photo. Sounds like something dh would write. hmm

StuntGirl Sat 05-Jan-13 22:55:01

shock This article is like, two weeks old. It's tone and style is like something from the fifties. They do know April Fool's Day is months off, right??

ashesgirl Sat 05-Jan-13 23:04:10

Ok, we have to get in touch with him! What a shame there's no comments area on this article

ashesgirl Sat 05-Jan-13 23:06:23

He has a twitter page!

noisytoys Sat 05-Jan-13 23:14:10

This is so funny

Anniegetyourgun Sat 05-Jan-13 23:46:29

Thank God I'm divorced, I can be as physically repulsive as I like. Which is just as well, really.

Nuttyprofessor Sat 05-Jan-13 23:46:39

I emailed him earlier asking for a quote for a time machine to go back to the 50s he replied that he agreed it is a terrible article he should have vetted it, it will be removed.
