"Girls are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. The boys don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they just get the rotten apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy. So the apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right boy to come along, the one who's brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree"

words bloody fail me. this was posted by a woman. Sad

They forgot to mention that the older damaged ones attract wasps.

Are any apples kicking the boy or hitting him on the head?

Dear God, I hope you teach your children critical thinking skills so that they stay away from knobbers like this.

absolutely incredible.

So we all have to hang around like apples on a tree waiting to be "picked"? And if we get picked first it is because we are rotten and easy?

You would be absolutely shocked to hear what this otherwise lovely woman does for a living. She is a highly educated professional person

We used to have a rat that climbed the apple tree to get the apples from the top. It'd chew through the stalk til it dropped to the floor.

Where does that fit in? Grin

Ha, EduCated, shall I post that?

I've heard it before, so presume she didn't make it up. Feel free to add the rat into the mix. It was a daft sod, never worked out that it could've have chewed through more than one apple at a time to save running up and down the tree so much.

We never saw it again after my DM chased it down the garden Sad

She will probably join a dating site with the title "High up apple seeks picker with ladder or some kind of device on a long pole."

Grin Tiggy! "Seeks male with claw like device and good apple-catching skills"

I also assumed she was single.

not sure whether she feels she held out for a "brave boy" or is an easy rotten apple

Some women remain for ever the foot soldiers of the patriarchy and participate in their own denigration and then pass it onto the next generation of young women.........grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I've seen this one, also was Confused at the thought of waiting to be "picked" but also at the insinuation that those who are in relationships are easy and rotten!! Such an odd analogy on many levels.

This does seem the sort of shit you'd expect from a 14 year old with low self esteem..not an adult woman Confused

I've never hung out in an Orchard looking fresh ... and now i feel like I've missed out. I did once proposition DH in a sheep barn, though ... is that the kind of thing she means?

Grin
aaah, romantic Yorkshire courting days!

[goes misty eyed

[gives up]

Seriously, this kind of drivel is so annoying. I was one of the first in my gang of friends to get married, and whenever someone said "how on earth did you find him?" I would very seriously say "well, we met online, and it was really just a sex thing at first..." and watch their heads explode. Grin

Waiting to be picked? Bleurhghgghghghghgh! If we spent as much time inculcating health self-esteem and a large dose of 'fuck your bullshit moral standards, it's my body and I'll do as I please' as we did shaming women for being sexual/frightening women that no one will want them, we'd actually give ourselves a chance at happiness.
