Hello,

I just reported a thread started by 'Dittony' which had a title attacking another poster and provided a link to a blog post.

It looked like a few others had reported it too as they had posted on it.

However in A/C there is another thread with the same title, which when you click on it takes you to a page saying 'error: thread deleted at OP's request'.

The OP however would appear to be someone who posted on the first thread, but not the same person who started it.

So can anyone please clarify what happened here...assuming the second thread was not posted by the same person as the first, (which has now gone) under a namechange?

(really hope not!)

I wondered that. And my last post on the thread showed up as the only post on the deleted thread, iyswim. So from active convos it looked like I was the only poster, but when you clicked you got the message as you said. I also wondered at the 'OP requested deletion' thing.

Oh yikes. Well that's what freaked me out - I could only see the thread title on Active, and your name next to it. I thought it muct have been either a duplicate thread (God forbid you had posted such tripe!) or you'd been meaning to start a thread about it and got the title mixed up somehow...

sorry, I had to check. I can see what's happened now...looks like a technical error.

Glad you're not some weird closet anti feminist Grin

Yeah, i saw the 'thread deleted at posters' request'

but also had email from HQ about them deleting the thread

seems as if there's a glitch, surely MNHQ aren't giving the OP the dignity of a requested deletion?

Well more importantly it looked as though Chickies here was the oP! Which is dreadful.

Wouldn't it make more sense to contact site management for an answer? Okay, I'm still new here and don't know how stuff works. I also didn't see the thread in question, but this thread looks alot like a "call out" thread - which is strangely enough about reporting another thread which was a "call out" thread.

Confused

I wouldn't like to say I'm not weird , but I'm not a weirdy troll person who gets so damn excited about stalking MN members.

Why not ask HQ? Looks like a touch of troll hunting to me - you thinking you had caught someone out? Not nice

Ooh! Hang on! I started a thread that got trolled, and have now been suspected of being a troll. That means I'm now Royalty, right?

that isn't what you meant, Gloria, is it? you really didn't think she was a troll?

Anyway, I missed the deleted thread, but am I right that it is a troll trying to discredit dittany? Because that doesn't sound like the kind of post she would ever make.

Brief summary for late comers: A dodgy person calling themselves 'dittony' posted a link to a blog (which was a bit stalkery) and implied that a MNer was something or other unpleasant. Several posters went WTF? and reported. I posted some inane garbage, and the thread was deleted. But in active convos, the thread title still existed with just my name as last poster. When you clicked on it it said that the thread had been removed at the OP's request. It was all very odd. But in the words of the immortal Shaggy, it wasn't me.

Whew, thanks. My hair was getting all messy from the "whoosh" of this thread going over my head. :o

SybilBeddows · 14/09/2011 18:00

It wasn't just implied either, the thread title directly insulted said MNer.

MsCellophane, no of course I didn't think Chickens had posted both.

That's why I posted THIS because it was freaking me out that her name was listed as the OP to the thread on A/C.

If you saw a thread on A/C with the name of the supposed OP next to it, and it said GloriaVanderbilt, you might be questioning whether I had actually started the thread....because it said I had....! But my tone was incredulous at that possibility and more hinting towards a weird technical hitch... or that was the intention anyway.

Apols for any confusion. If anyone wants to call me a troll hunter I'll take them outside thanks

and there was only one thread, that has been established. I thought there were two because Chickens LOOKED like she had been the OP on the one I saw after the first went bang (or I thought it had) but it was still there for some weirdy reason only tech understands

Thanks Auntie Monica
and sorry Chickens for casting possible doubt on you, I honestly never thought that was likely. Honestly.

Nah, s'ok. I didn't think you were accusing me tbh. I assumed the actual OP was the 'artiste' with the 'girlfriend'
