WTF? The new body dysmorphia: woman who looks perfectly normal (pretty, even) slags off her own appearance.....and prefers her dentally / surgically enhanced, fake tanned, micro mini skirt "new look"

And this from an apparently intelligent woman.
Vicky Ward
Is this just a case of writing any old women-hating drivel for the DM for a thousand quid fee or do women actually think like this?
Makes me want to gnash my teeth.

It made me so sad. Perfectly normal 'before' and Barbie doll 'after'.

How on earth she could describe herself as "chubby" in the wedding picture is a mystery to me. She looks lovely in the wedding shot.
She looks dreadful and desperate in the "today" one.

I feel so sorry for our daughters who are exposed to this all the time.

I actually thought she looked lovely in the previous photo, now she is just another "fem bot". She came across as very self obsessed, more like how a 15yr old girl rather than a 41yr old. Very sad article but, sadly, par for the course with the DM.

I seem to remember her writing it all before for the Times.

Sounds like the article is just an excuse to publish another picture of Pippa Middleton's arse Hmm . . .

pathetic really because she's ruined any natural beauty she had to become some ridiculous identi-clone.

Its all about what other people think
"But in my case ? er, well, the reverse is true. Men pay me a great deal more attention now, when I'm 41, than they ever did when I was 25. I get stopped in the street, in restaurants, in shops."

i thought she looked lovely in the wedding pic too

and agree with riven re what she said about men paying her more attention Hmm

also did anyone notice the bit about where she said she was lucky as she still had a flat stomach due to her babies being born early? Shock :(

She looks great in her wedding photo, what on earth is she talking about? Hmm

No way was she chubby on her wedding day,she was quite slim. ' I think the blonde is the only improvment as its brightened her face everything else makes her look a tragic 41 year old trying to look like a teen.
Yeah I agree every DM artivcle seems to post a pippa middleton photo , whats the dig deal with PM??

Grin Crikey, if she thinks that's a chubby wedding pic I feel like a fat cow - and I love my wedding pics.

She'll be getting attention because she thinks she looks great and is confident - which is lovely, but I wish someone had told her how to be confident without spending all that money (and on what sounds like some really shoddy/painful dentistry, too).

" get stopped in the street, in restaurants, in shops."

Grin Grin Grin

OMG this is hilarious! What exactly is happening when she gets stopped? Is she being:

a) propositioned by a drunken tramp;

b) told her skirt is tucked into her pants;

c) asked if she has welcomed the Lord Jesus into her heart?

You can just see it, can't you. 'Only yesterday I was stopped by some lovely smiley people who offered me a free personality test. Lucky me! must be because of all the great dental work I've had done'.

She looked better before, now she looks like any number of 40 odd think they look 20 odd women that you see a lot of in American tv shows. What's wrong with getting older? Whats wrong with being yourself? Oh and comparing her Pippa Middleton, what's that about?

I think the fact that she didn't stop after 'fixing' one thing she just found more things to fix shows a real lack of self confidence.

I've never heard of someone having that done to their gums. People seem a bit obsessed with teeth at the moment. I had a brace as a teen and that was painful enough. I can't imagine why lots of people have them filed down and fake one stucks over.

Far prettier at her wedding.

For heaven's sake. This woman looked FINE in her wedding photo - perfectly normal and slim. Pretty too. Are we looking at different photos? But now - she's like an Indentikit Barbie type alien woman. No, no, no. And how shallow!!! Really, who cares how self obsessed she is? Write about something meaningful instead.

Am I missing something? Honestly. Apart from a change in hair colour (£7.49 from any High Street chemist) and a - ahem - cheapy looking dress...she looks exactly the same to me.

I didn't read the whole thing (DM has that effect on me) so scrolling down, I thought that the portrait photo of her face 'before' was an 'after' shot, thinking 'wow, she's pretty, and what lovely hair.' Sorry to say, I wouldn't take the woman in the light blue body stocking all that seriously, really.

Yes, it is body dysmorphia. And just such a sad way of viewing oneself. If I were comparing myself on my wedding day (I got married at 23) to me now (aged 37, so similarish time frame) I'd be thinking along the lines of all the stuff dh and I have done together, the dc we have, the difficult times, the triumphs, the career paths we've had so far, the health probs we've dealt with....I don't think I'd even consider 'ooooh am I more attractive now?' Life is about way, way more than appearance!

Actualy, it's not a body stocking, is it? More like a negligee.

I just love that she's a contributing editor to Vanity Fair. Otherwise can't see the point of this article at all (but then this is the same paper that subjects its readers to the navel-gazing bleatings and whingeing of Liz Jones every week).
