this article makes for pretty depressing reading. Why does this happen?? How does it get this bad?? How can they have so little regard for fellow human beings??

Gods, it's terrifing to think that this nation is fast becoming a world leader. It's almost laughable to think that it the 21st century a country can still have this barbaric attitude to women Angry Sad

It doesn't seem that long ago there was a thread debating how the lack of women would affect the attitudes to women in India, I think everyone agreed these sort of attacks would increase Sad

There was a story in the news last month about a woman in Pakistan. On the order of the village elders she was gang raped. She had the bravery to have the 'men' prosecuted and they were found guilty and put away. Recently though, there was talk about a new regional authority granting them all a pardon.

i heard about the woman who was gang-raped as part of a jurger sentence, there was an article about it on 'outlook', a world service programm, sounded to me like it was a family who did this regularly , make a false acusation and enjoy the rape, it's good the're behind bars now . the mistake they made was that the scare tacktics they used to silence their victims diddnt work on her, but only because they had ruinsed her life so much that she felt like she was dead allready, she felt like she had nothing to loose. now her story is well known and an embarressment to pakistan, that may give her some protection.

It's sad that this sort of abuse can happen to women all over the world, all we can do is keep trying to raise awareness and keep this in the mainstream news.

Everytime stories of injustice against women, both in the UK and abroad, turn up in the news they sink down the 'most read' sections quickly and dissapear from newspapers even quicker.

Women are seen as second class worldwide, we need to make each other aware everytime something like this appears in the news and we need to spread this new to others. I realise this doesn't do much for the women currently suffering, but maybe we can try to stop future suffering?

hmmmmmmmmmm yes you do have a point but where there is good there will always be evil and those are the majority but we are the minority that try and spread the words but in the monetary world we live in only the words of the richest prevails!
