This was inspired by dittany's comment on the door opening thread:
"I think what's interesting about this article, is that the media ignores and ignores feminist research e.g. into the sex industry and its harms, or domestic violence, but then seizes on some random article in an obscure journal, to "prove" that feminists are only concerned with trivialities."

Here's something that at least one news organisation did cover (Guardian, natch) about what's really happening to women around the world.
