Want to know what I dislike most about feminism?

Stereotypes?

"all men are pigs, all men are rapists, men don't care about their kids, only men are perpretrators and only women are victims, all men eat children etc etc"

Some feminists even want men to take responsibility for the actions of rapists and apologize for them.

Well the reality is everyone is different and unique. Some men are pigs but some aren't, but some feminists just love tarring everything with the same paintbrush don't they?

Eh?

I can only see one stereotype here...that is your view of feminists...

"everyone is different and unique" is actually very feminist viewpoint. Why should someone be definied by their gender?

In fact, since that is basically the main question of feminism, and you have asked it...YOU are a feminist!

Welcome to the club, collect your dungarees and mooncup at the front desk, bra burning is in the main foyer and tonights menu is placenta on museli Grin

TCOB · 11/01/2011 22:18

Bra burning had to be cancelled as mine was so big it set the fire alarm off and the building had ot be evactuated Grin

scallopsrgreat · 11/01/2011 22:20

Ooh free dungarees? Show me the way!

thefinerthingsinlife · 11/01/2011 22:20

LOL I knew this would be the troll Dave

Dave80 · 11/01/2011 22:21

Yeah technically I am a feminist since I want equality. But I want equality for both genders and to have things balanced not just continually push for special protection and privileges for one gender only.

Who said anything about bra burning?

OP posts:
TCOB · 11/01/2011 22:23

Okay maybe not bra-burning. But I am worried about child-eating. DH is looking full and I haven't heard anything from my DS for a few hours...

ButterPieify · 11/01/2011 22:24

It's just us feminists, when we aren't plotting to ruin mens' lives or comparing labia, we love a good bra bonfire :)

So Dave, can you offer any hard evidence of your opening assertion that your list of crude and simple-minded stereotypes is what feminists think?

And er, with regard to your question, "want to know... etc", the honest answer is, no not really, no-one actually gives a shit, you're not that interesting, you're not that bright and we don't really care.

You're not David Cameron are you?

hester · 11/01/2011 22:27

All men are obviously rapist pigs, and all women are wonderful or innocent victims of the pigs in their lives. Come the revolution men will be women's slaves and we will all have hairy legs hooray.

There you go, Dave, now you can quote me.

Yawn.

Ormirian · 11/01/2011 22:28

And another reality is that some feminists are sensible reasonable people who don't conform to stereotypes. Shocking, I know....

sethstarkaddersmum · 11/01/2011 22:30

he's probably done his homework and read this

(btw guys, apologies for my last post - I've asked MNHQ to delete it)

TCOB · 11/01/2011 22:30

To be honest I only judge men on whether they are a good shag or not. Sorry!

thefinerthingsinlife · 11/01/2011 22:31

Since when have we stopped conforming to stereotypes? was it in the newsletter?
QueenGigantaurofMnet · 11/01/2011 22:35

on the whole the feminists on Mn are very intelligent and well informed.

there are however a few who do match the stereotype you portray and that is a shame. it is the "man hating" feminists that cause so much bad feeling towards the movement.

but thankfully they are the minority extremists you find in any movement.

I think you should spend a little longer on the feminist pages Dave, you may be surprised.

"Takes off dungarees, stomps out burning bra, shaves legs"

Your words not mine.

"there are however a few who do match the stereotype you portray and that is a shame. it is the "man hating" feminists that cause so much bad feeling towards the movement."

Yes!

I haven't come across any man-haters in the feminist session Gigantaur.

Only in RL and on the rest of mumsnet, and they are the women (and some men) who don't identify as feminists or feminist sympathisers.

And now I really am off to bed. G'night everyone. Smile

HerBeatitude · 11/01/2011 22:39

section that should say obv, not session

Dave80 · 11/01/2011 22:39

"No MN Feminista has ever expressed any of the statements expressed in the OP."

Perhaps not real feminists but many women claiming to be feminists certainly have.

I am not trolling.

I own the SCUM manifesto Grin

DH bought it for me, also DD1 did get hold of it and rip it a bit.

Slightly concerned that baby DD2 has only ever managed to rip a little bit of a bible...

probably tired ones, you can imagine the scenario - 'All right then Dave. All men are rapists. Whatever.'

TheFallenMadonna · 11/01/2011 22:45

Of course you're trolling. Why say otherwise?

Dull trolling though. Hackneyed Sad
