There is an interesting article on the Guardian website that focuses on a commenters distinction between misogyny/hatred of females and androphilia/over-valuing males. I agree with the comments that point out there's very little difference, and the outcome of both is the same, but i was interested how this distinction could be used when calling out sexist behaviour and the inevitable defensiveness of those being called out. As i think one commenter put it, if you stated "you hate women", they would simply reply, "no, i dont". Is "why do you over-value men" a better question? I'm asking as someone who has had many stand-up, shouty arguments with people who i would expect to Get It, so clearly the approach I've taken so far hasn't been the most productive.
